Remarkable achievements have been made in the field of science, in general and life sciences in particular, during recent decades. The impact of these developments on improving the quality of life is obvious. Consumption of Biotech products including conventional biotechnology and recombinant DNA products has exceeded Rs. 9.2 billion in 2006 and reached more than Rs. 17.68 billion in 2009. The mai
n contributors are the fermentation-based products e.g. Vaccines, Biopolymers, Antibiotics, Alcohol, Organic Acids, Enzymes, Amino Acids, Baker's yeast, etc. In near future, fermentation based products and services would remain important contributors to biotech product scenario.
