MD National Grid Reaffirms Commitment to & of TSG Tarbela

Managing Director National Grid Pakistan, Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik , undertook a detailed visit to the TSG Tarbela Training Centre, reviewing its training programs, and facilities.

During the visit, the MD inaugurated the newly constructed Mosque and renovated Trainees’ Hostel and emphasized further of the Centre through digital learning, modern training facilities and regular weekly training for local employees.

He also visited the Grid Maintenance and Line classrooms, P&I facilities, Library, IT Lab, Workshop and T&L Store, besides reviewing the newly completed boundary wall.

Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik stressed the importance of ownership, , continuous improvement and human resource development, with a vision to develop TSG as a modern, technology-driven Centre of Excellence for the power transmission sector.

The MD and DMD (AD&M) Engr. Rasheed A. Bhutto also participated in a activity and offered prayers for the progress of the country and the institution.

Engr. Amjad Ali, GM (TSG) Muhammad Ibrahim, GM (Media & PR) Engr. Muhammad Fayaz, Principal TSG Tarbela and other senior officers accompanied the MD during the visit.

National Grid Launches ‘AWAAZ’ Initiative to Empower Women Employees

National Grid Pakistan has launched “ – A Voice, A Platform, A Change,” a field engagement initiative aimed at strengthening the voice, participation and empowerment of women employees across the organization, under the “ ” vision of Managing Director Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik.

The launch event was held in Islamabad today, where DG Field Operations Islamabad Ms. Naila and DG HR (Services) Ms. Saeeda Kiran Hameedi were the Chief Guests. A total of 30 female officers and staff members from and Independent System and Market Operator ( ) participated in the session.

The workshop featured an introductory session, group activity, questionnaire-based engagement, sharing and discussion, followed by a way-forward session and anonymous survey. The activities were aimed at encouraging open communication and understanding the workplace experiences and expectations of women .

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guests highlighted that AWAAZ represents our commitment to listening to its female employees and creating an environment where their voices can contribute to growth and improvement.

National Grid is committed to placing its people at the center of decision making and AWAAZ extends that commitment to serving at regional and field offices, ensuring their voices are heard directly.

The initiative was organized under Workplace Culture & Employee Engagement Section, by Director HR (Employee Relations) Ms. Rehana Ulfat and Deputy Director HR Ms. Zoya Chaudhry.

National Grid Pakistan Launches Three-Day e-PADS 2.0 Training in Collaboration with PPRA

has launched a three-day customized training program on e-PADS Version 2.0, organized by its Supply Chain Management Department in collaboration with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority ( ). Running from 2–4 September 2026 at the TSG Training Centre North, New Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, the program — approved by PPRA specifically for National Grid Pakistan — is aimed at strengthening officers' capacity on 's electronic procurement platform and reinforcing transparent, efficient, and accountable practices.

Speaking at the launch, Executive Director Supply Chain Management, Engr. Sajjad Haider Syed, highlighted the role of digital procurement systems in promoting , , and regulatory compliance. The training is being conducted by a PPRA team led by Mr. Farukh Bashir, Director Training.

Twenty-five officers of National Grid Pakistan are receiving hands-on training covering e-PADS 2.0 features, bid management, supplier interaction, and PPRA compliance requirements. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive certificates from the Managing Director, PPRA.

The opening session was attended by C-Suite Officers, Executive Directors, Executive Business Advisor and General Managers, both in person and virtually — reflecting management's strong support for procurement reform and capacity building.

ADB Reviews SCADA-III Project Progress with & Leadership

National Grid and ISMO updated the ADB delegation, led by Vice-President for South, Central and West Asia, Mr. Yingming Yang, during his visit to the ISMO Head Office in Islamabad on progress of NGC's SCADA-III Project, a key milestone in the two decade long – sector partnership.

Additional Secretary and CEO ISMO, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, briefed the delegation on SCADA-III advancements, cross-border interconnectivity initiatives, and ongoing efforts on grid digitalization and Battery Energy Storage Systems ( ).

Managing Director NGC, Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik, described SCADA-III as critical infrastructure for Pakistan's future landscape, enhancing institutional capacity, asset management, cybersecurity, and real-time performance monitoring. He stated, "This is more than a system upgrade. It is a shift from infrastructure to , system operation to system optimization."

The delegation toured the Control Room, observing real-time monitoring and control capabilities of the national grid, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Empowering Women Through Skills Development

The NGC Gender Unit conducted a Community Consultation / Focus Group Discussion ( ) with women residing near the 220 kV Grid Station Jauharabad under the -funded Power Transmission Strengthening Project ( -I) Gender Action Plan.

The consultation, led by Ms. Tehmina Sarwar, Deputy Director (DEI/Gender Specialist), along with her team, brought together nearly 70 women from Angran, Bhesan and Bholan villages. Participants unanimously identified and embroidery machines as the most viable livelihood option.

Participants highlighted key barriers including constraints, safe and limited access to local training , while recommending a short, practical skills-training programme with transportation support.

Unit will prioritize electric sewing machine training through a recognized training institute, along with transportation, refreshments and modern electric sewing equipment for successful trainees, supporting women in developing sustainable income-generating opportunities.

Empowerment begins with being heard. That's the idea behind , a new field engagement initiative launched by the & (WC&EE) Section as a direct expression of MD NGC's Vision "We Care" — placing women employees at the center of the conversation.

AWAAZ — takes WC&EE teams directly to NGC's Regional and Field Offices, where women employees can share their experiences through informal roundtables, confidential one-on-one conversations, and a short anonymous designed by our DEI Section.

In Phase 1, AWAAZ will visit , , , , , and — with every response kept strictly confidential.

TSG South Hosts Workshop to Strengthen Regional Coordination and Streamline Operations

Technical Services Group ( ) South hosted the NGC South Synergy Workshop 2026 at the TSG South Complex in . Organized under the theme of "Strengthening Inter-Departmental Coordination & Streamlining Work Processes," the event brought together regional executives and operational heads of NGC and in South Region.

The workshop was hosted by Engr. Muhammad Ayoob Shaikh, Chief Engineer TSG South. Opening the discussion, Engr. Ayoob Shaikh emphasized on building stronger operational synergy between TSG and operational, , , and procurement formations.

During the , speakers proposed advance submission of training requirements, integrating practical field case studies and tapping into experienced engineers as departmental resource persons to make training result-oriented. To eliminate bottlenecks, participants agreed on defined timelines for bill scrutiny, separate tracking for payable vs. non-payable invoices and mandatory document completeness. It was recommended to formalize TSG's role in testing and through mandatory advance notifications for planned energizations.

The workshop concluded with a Question-and-Answer session. Prior to the workshop, the participants toured the newly upgraded facilities at TSG , highly commending the team for establishing a state-of-the-art Training Center.
