UoH’s Historic Transformation Under Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman (2022–2026)
Under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, the University of Haripur achieved a remarkable institutional transformation from 2022–2026, earning national prominence and global standing.
*Key Achievements:*
1. *Global Recognition & Rankings*: UoH marked its debut in the _Times Higher Education World University Rankings_, a milestone that placed it among the world’s top institutions. The University also made its position in _QS Asia Rankings, and UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. In subject-specific rankings, UoH secured the No.1 position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Medical & Health Sciences and earned leading ranks in Life Sciences and Physical Sciences — reflecting growing research impact and international competitiveness.
2. *Access & Academic Quality*: Enrollment grew 65% from 6400 to 10,540 students. QEC score improved from 46.69 to 86.69, one of the highest gains in Pakistan’s public sector. A number of market oriented undergrade and graduate programs launched. All programs got registered with relevant councils.
3. *Research & Student Support*: Research output surged 4.6x to 558 publications annually. Scholarships tripled to 2,322 students from 700, ensuring equitable access.
4. *Financial Strength*: Budget expanded from Rs. 1,100M to more than Rs. 2,300M. Pension and endowment funds strengthened while maintaining financial self-sustainability and transparency.
5. *Digital Governance*: Indigenous CMS, online admissions, and digitalized finance. Transitioned to paperless exams and meetings. All statutory body records and proceedings digitized for transparency.
6. *Infrastructure*: New academic blocks, modern labs, libraries, and hostels for students and staff. Automatic degree issuance from Fall 2026.
Sports facilities were developed and upgraded to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and student well-being.
7. *HR & Merit*: More than 50 professional development trainings conducted. Long-pending employee promotions completed purely on merit, restoring institutional trust.
8. *Culture & Heritage*: Established Qateel Shifai Museum & Literary Corner, Ayub Khan Corner, Matti Calligraphy Corner, Hari Singh Nalwa Corner, Quranic Garden and Jasmine Garden.
9. UoH advanced as an environment-friendly green campus through sustainable initiatives, including the establishment of the Quranic Garden and Jasmine Garden to promote ecological awareness and preserve spiritual heritage.
This four-year journey positions UoH, under _Vision 2030, as a leading center for research, innovation, and global collaboration.
