National Agricultural Research Centre -  NARC The National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), established in 1984 at Islamabad under PARC, is Pakistan’s largest agricultural research hub.

It develops technologies for crops, livestock, fisheries, and natural resources to ensure food security.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀

Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Director General NARC, met with Ms. Jenny Van Beam, Global Genebank Partnership Coordinator, Crop Trust, along with the Plant Genetic Resources Program team, to discuss strategies for enhancing Pakistan’s vital plant genetic resources.

The meeting highlighted continued collaboration between NARC and the Crop Trust to ensure agricultural sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and food security in Pakistan.

Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi, Chairman PARC, along with Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Director General NARC, urged scientists to further strengthen research and development (R&D) for the advancement of Pakistan’s agriculture.

He emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence to address emerging challenges in the sector and to ensure national food security.

The leadership reaffirmed PARC’s commitment to fostering a research-driven, sustainable, and resilient agricultural system for a prosperous Pakistan.

A one-day training on “Gender-Inclusive Research and Development in Agriculture” was held today at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), jointly organized by the Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI), PARC, and the CABI Gender Technical Working Group (GTWG).

The session emphasized the importance of mainstreaming gender perspectives in agricultural research, policy, and innovation to ensure equitable participation and inclusive development across the sector.
