SP-KVDA Reviews Progress on Provincial Action Plan and Key Development Initiatives
On the directions of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Sohail Afridi, and the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Mr. Malik Adil Iqbal, the Director General, Special Purpose Kalash Valleys Development Authority (SP-KVDA), convened a progress-review meeting at his office to assess implementation of the directions of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa concerning the Provincial Action Plan.
Detailed deliberations were held on key governance and service-delivery initiatives, including the operational status and issues relating to Camping Pods, Tourism Facilitation Centre, Complaint Cell, and sanitation and solid-waste management in the Kalash Valleys. Progress against public complaints and the measures being taken for their timely resolution was also reviewed.
The meeting further reviewed the procurement and implementation status of six major SP-KVDA development schemes, for which work orders are expected to be issued shortly following completion of the prescribed procurement process. These interventions cover important areas including restoration and preservation of cultural sites, drinking-water supply, sanitation, sewerage and related infrastructure.
The Director General reiterated that SP-KVDA remains committed to transparency, accountability, rule-based decision-making and responsible governance, with particular emphasis on timely service delivery and protection of the cultural and environmental integrity of the Kalash Valleys.
As the Kalasha Cultural Landscape has been included in Pakistan’s UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, SP-KVDA attaches particular importance to culturally sensitive and sustainable development. Coordinated efforts are therefore being pursued with the District Administration, line departments, local communities, NGOs and development partners to strengthen governance, preserve the unique Kalash cultural heritage and improve public services in accordance with the expectations and needs of the people.
