A New Chapter of Commitment & Public Service Begins

Today, 21st May 2026, Ms. Shazia Ashraf officially assumed charge as Secretary Mohtasib Secretariat (BPS-20). Upon her arrival at the office, she received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the officers and staff of the Mohtasib Secretariat. Flowers were presented and heartfelt wishes were extended in her honor.

Ms. Shazia Ashraf spent the day meeting with officers and employees, discussing the future vision and working strategy of the institution. During her address, she emphasized that the Mohtasib institution was established with the noble mission of providing free and prompt justice to the people, and under her leadership, every effort will be made to fulfill this responsibility with dedication and integrity.

She further stated that the office will now move forward with a renewed working approach where all employees will function as one united team. She highlighted that the Mohtasib Secretariat is among the state’s most respected institutions, and its original objectives will remain at the core of all future efforts.

Ms. Shazia Ashraf reaffirmed her commitment to working day and night within the framework of the institution’s Act to restore its true identity and strengthen public trust. She also pledged to ensure maximum access to swift, transparent, and free justice for the people through this important platform.

Condolence on death of Ex-Mohtasib Azad Jammu & Kashmir HE Mirza Zaffar Husain Jaral

It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that we share the sad news of the passing of Mr. Mirza Zafar Hussain Jaral (Late), former Ombudsman Azad Jammu & Kashmir, who breathed his last on 19 May 2026.

He served as the Ombudsman Azad Jammu & Kashmir from 07 December 2017 to 06 December 2020 with great dedication, integrity, and commitment to public service. During his tenure, he worked tirelessly for the provision of free, speedy, and effective justice, and made valuable contributions towards strengthening accountability, transparency, and good governance in the region.

On behalf of the Office of the Ombudsman Azad Jammu & Kashmir, heartfelt condolences are extended to the bereaved family in this hour of immense grief. We pray that Allah Almighty grants the departed soul the highest ranks in Jannah and gives patience and strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss. Ameen.
