The Acacia Hall of LM Metro Hotel in Tetuan, Zamboanga City shimmered with pride and anticipation on May 21, 2026, as Brent Hospital and Colleges Incorporatedโ€™s College of Physical Therapy held its first-ever Stethoscope, Nameplate, and Pinning Ceremony. This historic event became possible as, for the first time, the PT Department welcomed a large number of students in the first-yearโ€”enough to establish a tradition that marks their academic and professional transitions. With the theme โ€œSTRIDE 2026: Transformative Steps into the PT Profession,โ€ emphasizing Success, Transition, Responsiveness, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence, the ceremony became a defining milestone in the departmentโ€™s history.

The inaugural event was designed to symbolize the academic and professional transitions of every year level. For the first time, the College of Physical Therapy formally recognized these milestones through emblems that embody responsibility and identity in the profession:

โ€ขStethoscope tags for first-year students, signifying their transition into the second year and their deeper immersion into the medical sciences;
โ€ขNameplates for second-year students, marking their advancement into the third year and the strengthening of their professional identity; and
โ€ขPins for third-year students, symbolizing their readiness to step into internship and embrace the responsibilities of clinical practice.

The program commenced with an invocation and the singing of hymns, followed by welcoming remarks from the faculty members and administrators. Dean Marvin D. Zotomayor, MSPT, PTRP, CNMT, alongside distinguished faculty members and coordinators, led the presentation and acceptance of candidates, affirming their readiness to embrace the responsibilities of the profession.

The ceremony was graced by guest speaker Selah Agayam Musni, PTRP, who drew from two decades of experience in the field to inspire the students. Her message emphasized compassion, resilience, and dedicationโ€”values that define the heart of physical therapy.

Another memorable moment was the Turning Over of the Key of Responsibility, where Jehadson G. Candelaria, intern graduate, formally passed the symbolic key to Freyjan Razzi A. Paddam, a third-year student preparing to enter internship. This tradition highlighted the continuity of responsibility and the trust placed in the next generation of physical therapy practitioners.

The awarding of center awards was led by Veronica M. Valesco, PTRP, RPT, recognizing intern students who exemplified excellence and commitment in both academic and clinical endeavors. The moment celebrated not only individual achievement but also the collective spirit of the cohort.

The program also featured heartfelt testimonials, including one from Keanna Alever C. Tahil, who shared her personal journey as a Physical Therapy student. She spoke of the challenges and triumphs that shaped her path and offered an inspiring message to future graduates: to embrace perseverance, compassion, and dedication as guiding principles in their professional lives. Her words left a lasting impression, motivating her peers to stride forward with courage and purpose.

Finally, the ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Bryan G. Alejandro, PTRP, RPT, who emphasized the importance of carrying forward the values of Brent Hospital and Colleges Incorporated into future practice. His words served as a reminder that the ceremony was not an end, but a beginningโ€”a call to uphold integrity, dedication, and service within the profession.

As the closing echoes filled Acacia Hall, one message resonated clearly: this was not merely a ceremony, but the first transformative step of STRIDE 2026โ€”a tradition that will continue to shape the future of Brentโ€™s Physical Therapy students.

Behind every article written, every documentation completed, and every milestone achieved are the individuals who continuously shape and mold Synapse into what it is today. From managing countless responsibilities, delegating tasks, and leading fellow staff members, to sacrificing days and sleepless nights in pursuit of excellenceโ€”their dedication reflects more than just commitment; it is a true act of voluntary service fueled by passion and purpose.

As Synapse continues to grow, so do the challenges and demands that come with it. Yet despite these, they remain steadfast in their mission to serve not only the publication, but also the community and the entire student body.

As the Pin and Ring Ceremony commences this May 19, we proudly honor and congratulate those who continue to excel and embody the values of leadership, service, and commitment.

In institutions where recognition is often measured only through visible titles, selective acknowledgements, and convenient standards, many dedicated individuals remain overlooked despite the weight of their contributions. Some worked silently behind the scenes, carrying responsibilities far beyond what was expected, yet their efforts were not given the same spotlight they rightfully earned.

Awards and recognition may not always reach the people who truly deserve them, but no system can erase the sacrifices made, the service rendered, and the impact left on the people and communities they have served. Genuine leadership is not defined by who receives applause on stage, but by those who continue to serve even without it.

Your hard work, perseverance, integrity, and sacrifices never go unnoticed by the people who witnessed your dedication firsthand. The Synapse family is immensely proud of each and every one of you.

Congratulations, and may you continue to inspire through your unwavering service, leadership, and commitment beyond recognition.

Brent Hospital and Colleges Incorporated (BHCI) once again showcased its athletic talent during the 2026 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Games, held in Zamboanga City from February 12 to 15. The event served as a stepping stone for national qualifiers, with BHCI students joining forces with other PRISAA representatives from Zamboanga City to compete across multiple sports and disciplines.

Representing both the Senior High School and Tertiary Departments, BHCI students participated in a variety of events, including athletics, billiards, table tennis, chess, and volleyball. Non-sport competitions, such as vocal solo performances, also featured BHCI participants, highlighting the schoolโ€™s well-rounded talents.

The regional team performed impressively, securing a total of 55 medals, including 21 golds, 18 silvers, and 16 bronzes. The results demonstrated the skill, dedication, and hard work of all Zamboanga City athletes, with BHCI students playing a significant role in the success through their individual and team performances.

Among the top performers, 24 BHCI students, 19 from the Senior High School Department and five from the Tertiary Department, qualified to represent Region 9 at the National PRISAA Games. The national competition is scheduled from May 8 to 15 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, where they will face the countryโ€™s best athletes.

With this achievement, BHCI continues to reinforce its reputation as a hub for athletic excellence, nurturing student-athletes who demonstrate discipline, teamwork, and dedication both on and off the field.

Today, you celebrate not just the end of your Senior High journey, but the beginning of something greater. Behind every step you took on that stage are the sacrifices, late nights, dedication, and passion you poured into both your studies and your craft in Synapse Publication.

You were more than studentsโ€”you were storytellers who gave meaning to moments, voices to narratives, and life to every page; your work has left lasting imprints that will continue to inspire those who come after you.

As you move forward into college, may you carry with you the same courage, creativity, and sense of purpose, embracing the unfamiliar with confidence and the certainty that you will continue to shine and make a difference wherever you go.

And always remember that Synapse will remain your homeโ€”a place where your stories began, where your voices were first heard, and where your light first found the courage to shine; though your paths may lead you to different journeys, you will never walk alone, for we carry your stories with us just as you carry a piece of Synapse within you.
