💊 FREE DOXYCYCLINE PRESCRIPTION FOR FLOODWATER EXPOSURE 💊

🌧️ Waded through floodwater recently?

You may have been exposed to Leptospira, the bacteria that causes leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis is an infection commonly associated with floodwater contaminated by the urine of infected animals, especially rats. The bacteria can enter the body through cuts, wounds, small breaks in the skin, or through the eyes, nose, and mouth.

To help our community stay protected, PMSA is offering FREE DOXYCYCLINE PRESCRIPTIONS.

📩 HOW TO AVAIL

Send us a private message with the following information:

• Full Name
• Age
• Birthday
• Address
• Drug Allergies
• Date of floodwater exposure
• Did you have any cuts or wounds? (Yes/No)
• Are you pregnant or breastfeeding? (Yes/No)
• For women: Date of your last menstrual period (LMP)
• Current medications and medical conditions

A healthcare professional will assess your exposure and determine whether doxycycline prophylaxis is appropriate for you.

⚠️ PLEASE REMEMBER

Do not take doxycycline on your own. Doxycycline prophylaxis is not suitable for everyone, and proper assessment is necessary before a prescription is given.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have medication allergies, kidney or liver problems, or are taking other medications, please make sure to inform us.

🚨 ALREADY FEELING SICK?

Seek prompt medical attention if you develop any of the following:

• Fever or chills
• Muscle or body aches, especially calf pain
• Severe headache
• Red eyes
• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Decreased or difficult urination

These may be signs of leptospirosis and require prompt medical evaluation. If you are already experiencing symptoms, do not rely on preventive doxycycline and seek medical attention instead.

As the rainy season continues and heavy rains affect our communities, PMSA OLFU encourages everyone to remain alert, informed, and prepared. 💙

Heavy rainfall can quickly lead to flooding, slippery roads, power interruptions, and other emergencies. While we may not be able to control the weather, we can always choose to be prepared for it.

🎒 Be prepared before an emergency happens.
Keep essential supplies ready and accessible, especially during periods of continuous rainfall or possible evacuation.

🌊 Avoid entering floodwater.
Avoid walking or driving through flooded areas whenever possible. Floodwaters may conceal open manholes, sharp debris, electrical hazards, and other dangers.

📱 Stay informed and updated.
Monitor advisories from PAGASA, your local government, and other official authorities. Be cautious of unverified information and share only updates from reliable sources.

🔋 Stay connected.
Prepare for possible power interruptions and make sure you can contact your family, local authorities, or emergency services when needed.

📞 Know where to ask for help.
Keep important emergency hotlines saved and easily accessible. In an emergency, knowing whom to contact can make a difference.

❗️Above all, do not put yourself at unnecessary risk. Avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, never attempt to cross dangerous floodwaters, and follow evacuation instructions from local authorities when advised.

Preparedness is not about expecting the worst. It is about being ready to respond when the unexpected happens.
