“This rescue reflects the importance of community vigilance and immediate police response.

Dagdag pa ni PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., “The PNP remains committed to protecting the vulnerable and responding to situations that threaten life and safety.”

PNP ACTS ON UNIFIED 911 CALL; ARMED MAN ARRESTED IN CALOOCAN

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., acted on an emergency report received through the Unified 911 system, a public safety platform under the Department of the Interior and Local Government led by Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr. The response led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Filipino male for illegal possession of firearm in Caloocan City on May 10, 2026.

The suspect, a resident of Caloocan City, was apprehended along Kamada Interior Salaysalay Street, Barangay 8, by personnel from Sangandaan Police Sub-Station (SS-4, CCPS) while conducting patrol operations.

Based on initial investigation, officers received a unified 911 call reporting an armed individual wearing a black sweatshirt with white stripe, light khaki shorts, and slippers. Upon arrival in the area, they observed a male person matching the description who was seen inspecting a firearm. When police approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly intercepted and arrested.

Confiscated from his possession was one (1) caliber .38 revolver without serial number loaded with two (2) live ammunition. The suspect failed to present any legal document authorizing him to possess the firearm.

He was informed of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood, and he opted to remain silent. He was brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for medical examination and later transferred to the Investigation and Detective Management Section–Caloocan City Police Station (IDMS-CCPS) at around 12:20 AM of May 11, 2026 for documentation and further investigation.

Appropriate charges are now being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.

The operation highlights the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly the priority on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which reinforces immediate response to reported threats and strengthens field-level action against illegal fi****ms.

PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said: “We will continue to act on validated reports to prevent the circulation of unlicensed fi****ms in communities. Public safety remains our strongest commitment.”

All confiscated evidence is now under police custody for proper disposition and case build-up.

As the PNP intensifies its campaign against illegal fi****ms under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
