6th Infantry "REDSKIN" Battalion Participates in SOCCSKSARGEN Youth Volunteers Camp and Summit 2026
TANTANGAN, South Cotabato – Demonstrating its commitment to empowering the youth, the 6th Infantry "REDSKIN" Battalion, 6th Infantry (KAMPILAN) Division, Philippine Army, under the leadership of Commanding Officer, LTC DRANREB F CANTO INF (GSC) PA, actively participated in the SOCCSKSARGEN Youth Volunteers Camp and Summit 2026, held on July 23 to 26, 2026, at Tantangan National High School, Poblacion, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
Carrying the theme "Rise Up Generation: Skills for Life, Strength for the Nation," the four-day summit brought together youth leaders from schools, universities, the Sangguniang Kabataan, youth organizations, and the PAG-ASA Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) across Region XII. The event was hosted by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the SOCCSKSARGEN Youth Volunteers Program (SYVP), headed by Mr. Raffy Esparagoza Ormita. Hon. Emmylou J. Taliño-Mendoza, MNSA, Chairperson of the Regional Development Council XII and Governor of the Province of Cotabato, served as keynote speaker.
Participants engaged in lectures and activities on leadership, resilience, volunteerism, and civic responsibility. On Day 1, the battalion conducted lectures on Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) Awareness, a tactical hostage demonstration, a static display by the Scout Platoon, and a guidon-making activity, building awareness of national security issues while fostering teamwork and discipline.
Day 2 featured Tactical Combat Casualty Care led by the personnel of this unit, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Preparedness sessions led by Mr. Omar A. Isip, CPE, EMT of the Philippine Red Cross–South Cotabato Chapter. Other sessions included Fire Safety Awareness by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Teenage Pregnancy Awareness by Mr. Michael E. Dionio of the Provincial Population Office, Mental Health Awareness by Ms. Karah Ket P. Baliton, RPm of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), and lectures on map reading and knot tying by 6IB personnel.
On Day 3, battalion personnel led practical map-reading exercises and an Amazing Race, giving participants navigation and survival skills while reinforcing leadership, discipline, and teamwork.
The summit's success was made possible through the collaboration of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development–Region XII, the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) of South Cotabato (represented by Ms. Jobeelyn Baitus-Corrila), the PYDO of Cotabato Province (represented by Ms. Laarni Blase), the SOCCSKARGEN Youth Volunteers Program (SYVP), the 1204th Community Defense Center, the National Youth Commission (NYC), the Department of Migrant Workers–Region XII, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), the PAG-ASA Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP), and the 6th Infantry "REDSKIN" Battalion.
Through its participation, the 6th Infantry "REDSKIN" Battalion reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing informed, resilient, and patriotic young leaders who will help build peace, security, and sustainable development throughout SOCCSKSARGEN and the nation.
