The Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD), through its Health Promotion Unit, together with the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 2, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Cagayan, and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Cagayan, conducted another round of the 2026 Healthy Learning Institutions (HLI) Monitoring and Validation at Cabanbanan Sur Elementary School and Callao Elementary School in Gonzaga, Cagayan, on September 9โ€“10, 2026.

This activity aimed to assess the implementation progress of participating schools in Cagayan and ensure compliance with established HLI standards. Aligning school health initiatives directly supports Pillar 1 of the Unified National Agenda (UNA) Para sa Kalusugan, ensuring that learning institutions serve as vibrant platforms for health promotion, primary care access, and healthier learning environments for every Filipino learner.

Through this joint initiative, health and education leaders continue to pave the way for a safer, healthier future for Cagayan's young learners, proving that when sectors unite, child well-being thrives.

The Provincial Health Office โ€“ Cagayan Oral Health Program, led by Dr. Gilberto Ancheta, Oral Health Program Coordinator, conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity on oral health in Barangay Bagay, Tuguegarao City.

The activity gathered 23 daycare pupils and their parents/guardians, together with barangay officials and students from the University of Cagayan Valley (UCV). Participants were taught the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene through a demonstration of proper toothbrushing techniques. Toothbrushes and toothpaste were also distributed to encourage children and families to practice proper oral care at home.

More than teaching children how to brush their teeth, the activity emphasized the importance of early oral health education and family participation in preventing dental problems. Through initiatives like this, the Provincial Health Office Cagayan continues to promote healthy habits and empower communities to take an active role in protecting their oral health.
