ZAMBOANGA CITY β As part of its ongoing efforts to promote labor education and foster responsible labor-management cooperation, the Department of Labor and Employment 9 β Zamboanga City Field Office (DOLE 9-ZCFO), through its Satellite Office based at ZamboEcozone, successfully conducted a Labor Employment Education Seminar (LEES) for fifty-three (53) employees of the Southwest Asian Canning Corporation (SACC), in Brgy. Talisayan, Zamboanga City on April 10, 2025.
The seminar tackled vital labor topics including labor relations, general labor standards, and the basics of labor organizationβall aimed at equipping workers with knowledge of their rights and obligations in the workplace.
In his welcome message, ZamboEcozone Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Mr. Joselito Nuevo expressed appreciation for DOLEβs consistent support, underscoring the relevance of labor education in building a well-informed and empowered workforce.
Resource speaker Ms. Lyra R. Paulino, Senior LEO of DOLE 9-ZCFO, provided a comprehensive overview of labor standards and the crucial role of labor organizations in maintaining harmonious and just work environments.
Representing SACC, Human Resource Manager Ms. Bevelyn Tablate extended the companyβs gratitude to DOLE Region 9 and its Satellite Office, recognizing the value of such initiatives in raising awareness and reinforcing compliance with labor laws. βThis learning session has been instrumental in deepening our understanding of fair labor practices and strengthening our commitment to uphold labor standards,β she shared.
The activity not only highlighted the shared commitment of DOLE and private enterprises in upholding decent work but also reaffirmed the strong collaboration between the government and industries operating within ZamboEcozone. //END
