๐จ CGNS STRENGTHENS EMERGENCY RESPONSE READINESS THROUGH MASS CASUALTY INCIDENT AND TRIAGE TRAINING ๐
The Coast Guard Nursing Service (CGNS) continues to advance its emergency preparedness efforts through its participation in the Mass Casualty Incident and Triage Training conducted by the University of the Philippines Manila โ Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (UP DRRM-H) Program on 21โ23 October 2026 at the University of the Philippines Manila.
The three-day activity focused on strengthening participantsโ preparedness to respond to incidents involving multiple casualties. Through capability-building sessions and scenario-based tabletop exercises, the training highlighted the importance of systematic triage, rapid casualty assessment, appropriate prioritization of patients, and effective coordination among emergency responders.
Five nursing personnel from various CGNS sub-units took part in the training, further enhancing their knowledge of emergency response principles and the delivery of nursing care in challenging situations. The competencies gained are valuable in supporting an organized and timely response, particularly when the number of casualties places significant demands on available medical personnel and resources.
CGNS remains committed to developing competent and mission-ready nursing personnel through continuous learning and specialized training. By strengthening emergency response capabilities, the Service contributes to the Philippine Coast Guardโs broader efforts to safeguard lives and ensure the delivery of responsive, efficient, and quality healthcare during emergencies and disasters.
Ready to respond. Committed to care. Dedicated to saving lives.
