A Day with the Youth
The 603rd Persuader Brigade spent a day with 70 youth participants composed of students from Milbuk National High School, Sangguniang Kabataan representatives and Indigenous People on March 23, 2023 at Headquartes, 603rd Infantry (PERSUADER) Brigade, Brgy Milbuk, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.
The activity includes information drive with regards to the AFP Recruitment, CTG Awareness Campaign and testimonies from Former Rebels.
The Brigade also orchestrated the static and kinetic display of armored fighting vehicles, cannons, and other armaments together with the troops of 2nd Scout Section, 2nd Scout Platoon, 3rd Cavalry Company, Armor Division and Charlie Battery of 6th Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment. A special performance came from one of the Philippine Army's elite units, the 1st Scout Ranger (UNBEATABLE) Battalion, which demonstrated their combat capabilities.
The activity aims to provide the youth of the Municipality of Palimbang with an opportunity to develop them into more responsible and competitive leaders who will guide their peers toward peace and community development.
Anchored on the theme: “KABATAAN: Mapagmahal sa Bayan, Pag-Asa ng Kinabukasan”, the YLS sought to empower the youth through a leadership training, instill among them the spirit of patriotism and social responsibility. Additionally, it makes them active participants in government-led efforts to promote peace and safeguard them against the manipulation, recruitment, and exploitation of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).
The Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) was made possible through the support of Palimbang MTF-ELCAC led by Mr Norsaidie Bayao – Focal Person, Hon. Jonime Kapina, Palimbang Municipal Mayor represented by Mr Jun Mangulamas – PIO, 603rd Infantry (PERSUADER) Brigade under the leadership of BGEN MICHAEL A SANTOS PA, 37th Infantry (CONQUEROR) Battalion under the leadership of LTC JOHN PAUL D. BALDOMAR INF (GSC) PA and Datu Yahiya Galmak Sinenggayan REB, the newly installed Provincial Assessor Officer and concurrently the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Sultan Kudarat Province as the Keynote Speaker of the Closing Ceremony. Moreover, he is also the Focal Person of Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
BGEN SANTOS lauded the youths’ enthusiasm for being active participants in peace building and further encouraged them be role models and active citizens for the betterment of their community. “I urge the participants to live up to the expectations of the people and build your values as you continue to strive in chasing your dreams. And together, let us join hands in helping our country fulfill the collective and elusive dream of peace, good governance and development for a better future.” BGEN SANTOS said.
Meanwhile, Datu Yahiya G Sinenggayan, REB, also expressed his sincere gratitude to the military personnel and the officials of the Local Government Unit of Palimbang for their assistance in promoting community peace and development as well as for shaping the minds and hearts of the next generation to become responsible citizens of society and leaders in their respective communities.
