SUCCESS, FRESH FROM THE PACIFIC 🌊⚓ | PH Navy Welcomes Home Personnel After Successful Participation in RIMPAC 2026

The Philippine Navy welcomed home Naval Task Group (NTG) 84 aboard BRP Miguel Malvar FFG6 - PF during an arrival ceremony at Naval Operating Base Subic, Zambales, on August 20, 2026, following its successful participation in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026 in Hawaii, USA.

Vice Commander, Philippine Navy, Major General Edwin E Amadar PN(M), led the ceremony and commended the contingent for its dedication, professionalism, and outstanding performance throughout the multinational exercise.

A highlight of the deployment was BRP Miguel Malvar’s exemplary performance during the Naval Surface Fire Support Rodeo, competing alongside 14 other participating ships.

The contingent’s participation in maritime, amphibious, and special operations activities further strengthened the Philippine Navy’s operational readiness and interoperability with partner and allied forces.

LOOK: The BRP Miguel Malvar has returned to the Philippines following its successful participation in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercises in Hawaii from June 24 to July 31.

An arrival ceremony was held earlier today, Aug. 20, at the Naval Operating Base in Subic, Zambales, led by Philippine Navy Acting Flag Officer-in-Command MGen. Edwin Amadar.

A total of 134 Navy personnel under Naval Task Group 84 participated in RIMPAC 2026, the world’s largest and premier naval exercise, involving 30 nations. | via Patrick de Jesus

HONORING FUTURE LEADERS OF THE PHILIPPINE NAVY

Following the successful completion of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026, BRP MIGUEL MALVAR (FFG6) welcomed two Filipino cadets currently undergoing education and leadership training at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) under the Philippine Military Academy's Foreign Exchange Program.

The visit provided the cadets an opportunity to reconnect with the Philippine Navy, gain firsthand exposure to the capabilities of BRP MIGUEL MALVAR (FFG6), and engage with the ship's officers and crew who shared valuable experiences in naval service, leadership, and mission readiness.

Having begun their military education at the Philippine Military Academy, the cadets are advancing their professional development at the USNA under the longstanding defense and educational partnership between the Philippines and the United States. Upon completing their studies, they are expected to return as commissioned officers of the Philippine Navy, bringing enhanced knowledge, international experience, and a strengthened commitment to safeguarding the nation's maritime interests.

Through initiatives such as these, BRP MIGUEL MALVAR (FFG6) reaffirms the Philippine Navy’s commitment to developing future naval leaders, strengthening international defense cooperation, and advancing capable, mission-ready force dedicated to the service of the Filipino people.

WATCH | FFG6’s World-Class Performance Continues: Clinches Bronze in the RIMPAC 2026 Gunnery Competition

Competing against some of the world’s most capable warships, BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG6) delivered an outstanding performance at the RIMPAC 2026 Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) Rodeo, securing Third Place and showcasing the Philippine Navy’s growing proficiency in naval gunnery.

NSFS Rodeo is one of the most anticipated events in RIMPAC exercise where 14 participating ships compete through live firing against virtual target. But behind the contest of precision, the live fire event demonstrates the ship’s capabilities to provide firepower for fire support operations. It also serves as an avenue for the crew to familiarize with NSFS procedure, coordinate with the spotter, and apply necessary firing corrections to deliver maximum effect.

From submarine detection earlier this year during MILAN Exercise in India to NSFS excellence at RIMPAC Exercise in Hawaii, FFG6 continues to raise the Philippine flag high in the international stage.

Another chapter to the unit’s growing legacy, reaffirming to its reputation of operational excellence, dedication, and professionalism.

Philippine Navy's BRP Miguel Malvar FFG6 - PF and US Navy's USS Decatur (DDG-73) met in a bilateral engagement aboard FFG6 on July 6, 2026, on the sidelines of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026.

FFG6 Skipper Captain Paul Michael P Hechanova PN(GSC) welcomed USS Decatur delegation led by Commander Arlene V Crews, a Filipino-American born and raised in Dinalupihan, Bataan before serving in the US Navy during the engagement.

From the Philippines to the world, the Philippine Navy's BRP Miguel Malvar FFG6 - PF showcased its capabilities during the successful Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026, held from June 24 to July 31, 2026, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.

Dubbed the world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC 2026 brought together 30 nations, 30 ships, five submarines, more than 190 aircraft, 15 national land forces, and over 30,000 personnel to train, collaborate, and build lasting partnerships. Standing proudly among the participating navies, the Philippine Navy demonstrated its commitment to interoperability, professionalism, and regional maritime security.
