Seal of Good Local Governance Evaluation in the Barangay Taytagan.
Good Local Governance Evaluation is a process of assessing how well a barangay, municipality, city, or province performs its responsibilities in serving the community.
It looks at whether local officials and government offices are transparent, accountable, responsive, effective, and participatory in managing public affairs and delivering services.
What is evaluated?
Transparency – Information about programs, projects, budgets, and activities is properly disclosed to the public.
Accountability – Officials are responsible for their decisions, actions, and use of public funds.
Participation – Residents are given opportunities to participate in planning, decision-making, and community activities.
Responsiveness – The local government responds promptly to the needs and concerns of its constituents.
Effectiveness and efficiency – Programs and services are properly implemented and resources are used wisely.
Peace and order – The barangay works to maintain safety, peace, and security in the community.
Environmental management – The community implements programs for cleanliness, waste management, and environmental protection.
Social services – Assistance and services are provided to vulnerable groups, including children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and families in need.
Why is it important?
The evaluation helps local governments identify their strengths and areas that need improvement. It also encourages officials and residents to work together toward better public service and community development.
For a barangay, good governance can be seen in proper documentation and records, regular barangay activities, responsive services, transparent use of funds, community participation, and effective implementation of barangay programs.
In simple words:
Good Local Governance Evaluation asks: “How well is our local government serving the people, managing resources, and responding to the needs of the community?”
