DOH Bicol Region records 39 new cases, 1 death
August 5, 2020

The Department of Health – Bicol records thirty-nine (39) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 -- the highest record of cases in a day. One death (1) from Daraga, Albay has also been recorded.

The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Bicol Region is now five hundred fifty-one (551). Active cases are two hundred ninety-three (293). Total number of deaths are fourteen (14).

Of the 39 new cases, thirteen (13) are from Camarines Sur, nine (9) from Naga City, eight (8) from Albay, six (6) Camarines Norte, and three (3) from Sorsogon.

Due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, DOH Bicol adopted a new format showing a summary of cases per province. Concerned local chief executives have been individually informed of these cases hence releasing of details about the said patients is at their discretion guided by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

On the new COVID-19 death

The 14h COVID-19 death was recorded today among the 39 new COVID-19 cases. Bicol #520, who is a 57-year old male from Daraga, Albay died on August 4, 2020 at 12 midnight. He was admitted at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) on August 1, 2020 after experiencing symptoms.

His cause of death is Cardiogenic Shock secondary to heart failure functional class 4, Aortic Stenosis, Community Acquired Pneumonia High Risk.

DOH CHD- Bicol would like to extend its condolences to the family and friends of Bicol #520.

Appeal to Public

COVID-19 confirmed cases in Bicol Region are increasing. Everyone must follow all the health protocols such as social distancing, use of facemask especially when outdoors, hand washing, cough etiquette, healthy lifestyle and to stay at home. Stay calm, but be vigilant. Cooperation and discipline from the public are crucial at this time of crisis.
