The DA Capiz Research Outreach Satellite Station at Astorga, Dumarao held their Farmers Field Day today, November 23, 2021.

In attendance were selected farmers, agricultural technicians from the Municipal Agriculture Office of Dumarao, Capiz ROS Chief Lilia Penaranda, Dumarao ROS Chief Benito Labindao and DA Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Peter Sobrevega.

The farmer participants were toured and briefed on the services offered by the station as well as provided with assorted vegetable seeds and planting materials.

All participants were reminded to observed social distancing and proper wearing of face masks.

On-going harvest of cacao for seedlings production and processing purposes at DA Capiz ROS - Sigma Station.

DA Western Visayas - Capiz Research Outreach Station conducted its 9th Farmers Field Day last October 25 to 28, 2021. During the 4-day activity, approximately 300 farmers from all municipalities and city of Capiz were invited to tour the station which is located at Brgy. Malapad Cogon, Sigma, Capiz.

The station featured its Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) strips planted to different indigenous upland rice varieties, dragonfruit and grapes production, assorted lowland vegetable production, mushroom production, cacao and rubber tree budwood garden, coffee scion grove and other commodities.

The farmers in attendance were also given the chance to select and participate in the short trainings being offered for the day such as Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT), Sweet Potato Production, Vegetable Production, Mushroom Production and Nursery Management. They were also able to bring home assorted vegetable seeds, root crop cuttings, fruit tree seedlings and other planting materials. A community pantry made up of various produce from the station, canned goods, dried fish and poultry products were also made available for the farmers.

Also in attendance were DA Regional Technical Director Dr. Peter Sobrevega and DA Research Division representatives, municipal agriculturists, agricultural technicians, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist- Capiz and the Capiz Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office.

The growth and yield performance of different indigenous upland rice varieties were showcased to approximately 300 rice farmers who attended the 9th Farmers Field Day conducted by DA Capiz Research Outreach Station at Brgy. Malapad Cogon, Sigma, Capiz last October 25 to 28, 2021.

The 4-day activity offered the chance for farmers to tour the Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) strips planted with the following upland rice varieties: Sulig, Kapino, Kalotak, Sinambawan, Laka, Malido, Dinolones, Pilit, Milagrosa and Palawan.

DA Capiz Ros has available indigenous upland rice seeds for distribution to interested and qualified farmers.

DA Western Visayas - Capiz Research Outreach Station (ROS) facilitated the dispersal of 40 heads native chicken (Jolo strain) to the Province of Capiz through the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian.

The ROS station, located at Brgy. Malapad Cogon, Sigma, Capiz is currently raising native chicken for dispersal to interested and qualified farmers.
