On April 29, 2026, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan conducted a Public Hearing at Municipal Gymnasium on the following Proposed Municipal Ordinances, to wit:

》 An Ordinance Amending the Municipal Ordinance No. 2017-011, re: An Ordinance Enacting the Gender and Development (GAD) Code of the Municipality of Maitum, Sarangani Province, and for Other Purposes.

》Municipal Ordinance Providing Employment for Persons with Disability, Senior Citizens and Solo Parents in Government and Private Establishments in the Municipality of Maitum.

》 An Ordinance Regulating the Manufacture, Sale Distribution and Use of PNP, BFP, AFP, and PCG Uniforms, Insignias and Other Accoutrements in the Municipality of Maitum, Sarangani Province.

》An Ordinance Permanently Designating Santiago Ablog Sr. Street, Adjacent to Malalag Central Elementary School-Sped Center, Barangay Malalag, Maitum, Sarangani Province, as one-way Street to Ensure the Safety and Security of Pupils, Residents and Motorists.

》An Ordinance Regulating the Sale, Distribution, Possession, and Use of Firecrackers, Pyrotechnic Devices and Other Similar Explosives Within the Territorial Jurisdiction of the Municipality of Maitum, Province of Sarangani.

The Public Hearing was actively participated in by various community sectors, whose insights, recommendations, and concerns were duly considered by the respective committees. The 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Maitum, Sarangani Province convened its 40th Regular Session on April 20, 2026, under the leadership of Presiding Officer Hon. Freddie F. Balazon.
During the session, Hon. Kenneth Lance A. Rocapor, Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation President and Chairperson of the Committee on Youth and Sports Development, delivered a compelling Privilege Speech. In his address, he put forward the intent to pass resolutions commending Maitum’s athletes and coaches who brought pride to the municipality through their outstanding performances in the SRAA Meet 2026, held in the Province of Sultan Kudarat from February 7–11, 2026.

The session was further highlighted by the presence of the dedicated coaches, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Sangguniang Bayan. They shared not only words of thanks but also a hopeful vision for stronger and sustained support from the Local Government Unit toward the continued growth of Maitum’s sports programs and as they are competing from diffrent places.

Adding to the significance of the event, the Public Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Argelio Arago, PhD, conveyed his sincere appreciation for the LGU’s unwavering support. He commended the initiative to recognize both athletes and coachesβ€”individuals who have carried not only the name of Maitum but also the pride of the entire Province of Sarangani onto a wider stage.

More than a recognition of medals and victories, the session became a celebration of discipline, perseverance, and community pride. It stood as a powerful reminder that behind every achievement is a collective effortβ€”of athletes who strive, coaches who guide, and a community that believes. As Maitum continues to invest in its youth, it does not merely shape champions in sports, but builds a generation driven by passion, resilience, and an enduring commitment to bring honor to their home.

Our Local Legislators convened for their 39th Regular Session on April 13, 2026, presided over by Municipal Vice Mayor, Hon. Freddie F. Balazon.

During the session, Hon. Kenneth Lance Roacapor, the SKMFP, delivered his privilege speech emphasizing transparency in the local government system. He highlighted the importance of recognizing and valuing Job Order employees, stressing that regardless of employment status, every individual plays a vital role in the daily operations of the LGU and deserves to be heard and appreciated.

In addition, the IPMR, Hon. Kubli Kusin, expressed his strong intention to sponsor a certain measure for the establishment of a Cultural Learning Center.

This initiative aims to serve Indigenous Peoples (IPs) of all ages by providing a space where they can reconnect with and learn more deeply about their cultural roots. The center is envisioned to preserve and pass on the rich traditions and heritage of the IP community to future generations.

Several measures were also approved and adopted during the session, all geared toward the continued development and progress of the locality.

The session also carried a warm and celebratory note, as the Honorable Members of the august body extended their heartfelt birthday greetings to Hon. Zusima M. Del Rosario, who celebrated her special day last April 9, 2026.

On April 6, 2026, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Maitum held its 38th Regular Session, presided over by Hon. Jessiemel Bryan G. Reganit as Acting Municipal Vice Mayor.

One of the highlights of the session was the courtesy call of PLT. Jackie Bass of the Philippine National Police (PNP), who was recently installed as the Deputy Chief of Police. In her message, she shared her dedication to serve the people of Maitum and to help maintain peace and order in the community.

Also, PMAJ. Ramil Aruelo, Chief of Police of the Maitum Police Station, also expressed his heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome he has received. He shared that he is currently awaiting the next step in his designation, whether it be a renewal or reassignment.

Amid ongoing global tensions, particularly in the Middle East, which continue to affect economies worldwide, including the Philippines, Hon. Merculio delivered a Privilege Speech. He raised important concerns and proposed a meaningful legislative measure aimed at helping the municipality respond to these challenges and better support the community during these uncertain times.

March 30, 2026, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan Members of Maitum conducted their 37th Regular Session and was presided over by Municipal Councilor, Hon. Jessiemel Bryan G. Reganit.

During the Session, the Local Development Plan for Children and Local Development Investment Plan for Children covering the Calendar Years 2026-2030 of the Municipality of Maitum were approved and adopted. These legislative measures are vital roadmap that guiding the local government in protecting, nurturing, and empowering children within their jurisdiction. Their significance are beyond from planningβ€”these directly shape the future of community by ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to survive, develop, and thrive.

Look! Hon. Freddie F. Balazon proudly represented Municipal Mayor James Mark B. Reganit at the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with Department of Social Welfare and Development Region XII for the implementation of the β€œTara, Basa!” Program, held at Farmer's Hill on March 19, 2026.

The β€œTara, Basa!” Program is a meaningful initiative of the DSWD that aims to address literacy gaps among young learners while providing short-term employment opportunities for parents and community members. Through tutoring and learning support, the program not only strengthens reading skills of children but also promotes family involvement and community empowermentβ€”creating a shared responsibility in shaping a brighter future for the youth.
