April 14, 2026 โ A joint validation was conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute โ Regional Training Center XII (ATI-TRC XII), under the FITS Program led by Jon Ian Belo and OPAG FITS Manager Engr. Inocencio E. Morales, in coordination with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAG), at the Malapatan College of Science and Technology (MALAHSCI) for the proposed establishment of a Farmersโ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Kiosk. The activity aimed to assess institutional readiness and compliance with program requirements, and to strengthen the delivery of agricultural information and extension services through improved access to technologies, knowledge resources, and support mechanisms for students and stakeholders.
During the validation, the College Administrator, Maria Giovanna G. Abecia, Ed.D, expressed her appreciation for the partnership, emphasizing that the program is both timely and relevant to the institutionโs current needs. She further noted that the establishment of a FITS Kiosk will significantly contribute to the enhancement of learning opportunities and the promotion of agricultural development within the institution.
Based on the results of the validation, MALAHSCI successfully met the requirements and is set to receive a project amounting to Fifty Thousand Pesos (โฑ50,000.00) from ATI XII. This highlights the institutionโs commitment to innovation, extension services, and sustainable agriculture.
On the same date, the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) conducted the distribution of 14,300 hills of coconut seedlings to 36 farmers in Barangay Patag and 40 farmers in Barangay Poblacion, with the activity held in Patag. The intervention aims to support local farmers by expanding coconut production, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and improving livelihood opportunities.
These activities were carried out with the support of the Municipal Officials, headed by Hon. Salway D. Sumbo, Jr. MMPA, Municipal Mayor, whose leadership continues to contribute to the advancement of agricultural development in the locality.
