TWO CTG MEMBERS ABANDON ARMED STRUGGLE, YIELD FI****MS IN BUKIDNON
The Philippine National Police, under the command of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., facilitated the voluntary surrender of two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Talakag, Bukidnon on August 16, 2026, who also turned over fi****ms and live am******on as they chose to return to the fold of the law.
Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10), through the 1004th Maneuver Company (MC) of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, facilitated the surrender of alias โTagyao,โ 35, and alias โMorsid,โ 33, both residents of Barangay Lantud, Talakag, Bukidnon. The two were identified as Militia ng Bayan (MB) members of Platoon Fury, Sub-Regional Committee (SRC)-5, North Central Mindanao Regional Command (NCMRC).
Tagyao surrendered one caliber .38 revolver with two live .38 am******on, while Morsid yielded one improvised sh***un with two live 12-gauge am******on. The fi****ms and am******on were turned over along with their decision to sever ties with the CTG.
The two previously served as part of the groupโs support structure, providing food and other logistical requirements to CTG members. Their decision to surrender was influenced by former members in their community who had returned to the fold of the law and benefited from government programs and assistance, showing them a viable path toward rebuilding their lives.
PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that choosing peace gives former CTG members an opportunity to rebuild their lives while contributing to safer communities.
โChoosing to leave an armed group takes courage, and that decision can help prevent further conflict in the community,โ PGEN Nartatez said.
โKung gusto nilang magbago, may pagkakataon silang magsimula ulit at mamuhay nang tahimik kasama ang kanilang pamilya,โ he added.
The surrender reflects the PNPโs Enhanced Managing Police Operations priority under its Focused Agenda, reinforcing operational efforts to encourage the peaceful return of CTG members to the fold of the law and help strengthen security in communities affected by armed conflict.
The two former CTG members, together with the surrendered fi****ms and am******on, are currently under the custody of the 1004th MC, RMFB 10 for custodial debriefing, profiling, and proper documentation.
As the PNP upholds peace and public safety under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it helps communities move toward lasting peace while assuring the public of โBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.โ
