As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, NIA MARIIS conducted its Review and Planning Workshop on August 5โ€“6, 2026 at Division III San Manuel, Isabela. The two-day activity focused on reviewing accomplishments, evaluating current performance, and aligning priorities for the remaining months of the year, with the active participation of process owners and the ISO Core Team.

In his opening message, Division Manager Engr. Jaime M. Lara reminded participants that the annual ISO Audit is not new to the Division. โ€œThe ISO Audit is not just about complianceโ€”it is an opportunity to strengthen our systems, work together, and continuously improve the way we serve,โ€ he shared.

Guided by this commitment, each process owner and ISO Core Teams presented updates on their respective processes, highlighting accomplishments, challenges, and proposed action plans. Through collaborative discussions, participants identified key action plans to strengthen operations, reinforcing the Division's commitment to continuous improvement and providing efficient, reliable, and responsive irrigation services to the farming communities it serves.

Magat Dam Sustains Rise Past 160-masl Critical Water Level Amid Cloud Seeding Operations and Rains

Magat Dam, Isabela โ€” Sustained rainfall from cloud seeding operations and monsoon rains enhanced by recent weather disturbances, including Tropical Storm Maymay, have pushed the water elevation at the Magat Dam โ€“ Luzonโ€™s largest watershed โ€“ past its critical water level, offering relief to farmers after several weeks of dry conditions caused by El Niรฑo.

As of August 6, 2026, Thursday, Magat Dam recorded an elevation of 166.44 meters above sea level (masl), steering clear of the 160 masl critical water level that could have put at risk at least 12,000 hectares out of this irrigation systemโ€™s total programmed area of 96,000 hectares.
