The Department of Agriculture โ Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I), through its Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED), conducted a Re-Orientation on the Crafting of the Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) Network Plan on February 12, 2026, in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan.
The activity forms part of the continuing efforts of Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office I to strengthen local government units (LGUs) in developing a comprehensive and strategic Farm-to-Market Road Network Plan. The re-orientation aims to rationalize, prioritize, and properly program the construction of farm-to-market roads to prevent project duplication and ensure connectivity across agricultural production areas.
Specifically, the initiative seeks to improve linkage between farms and markets, thereby enhancing mobility, reducing post-harvest losses, and promoting rural development and food security within the municipality.
The activity was attended by municipal officials and representatives headed by Mayor Julius C. Ramos, with participants from the Mayorโs Office, Municipal Agriculture Office, Municipal Engineering Office, Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Budget Office. Their active participation underscored the local governmentโs commitment to infrastructure planning that supports agricultural productivity and inclusive growth.
Serving as resource speakers were Engr. Mark Harry G. Pastor, RAED Chief, Engr. Charise C. Suguitan and Engr. Unika P. Alejandro, both RAED technical staff. The RAED team discussed the technical guidelines, planning framework, and evaluation criteria necessary in crafting a responsive and data-driven FMR Network Plan aligned with national standards.
Through this collaborative undertaking, DA-RFO I and the Municipality of Sta. Maria, Pangasinan reaffirm their shared commitment to building well-planned, efficient, and sustainable farm-to-market road networks that will contribute to increased farmersโ income and long-term agricultural development in Pangasinan. # #
