PNP EXTENDS LIFE-SAVING SUPPORT TO PGH PEDIATRIC PATIENTS

A quiet act of compassion now brings renewed hope to children who rely on life-sustaining breathing support equipment in their homes.

The Philippine National Police demonstrated its continuing commitment to humanitarian service through an outreach initiative benefiting chronically ill pediatric patients under the care of the Child Foundation and the Kalidad at Wagas na Aruga on the Go (KWAGO) Program of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).

Under the leadership of PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the Philippine National Police extended vital support through a donation activity held on June 4, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to assist vulnerable sectors, particularly young patients dependent on ventilator and BiPAP machines for survival at home.

As part of the initiative, the PNP Civil Security Group donated fifteen portable generators to help ensure continuous power supply for medically dependent children. These units are expected to provide critical backup during unexpected power interruptions, allowing breathing support equipment to function without disruption and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients in their homes.

The turnover was formally received and acknowledged by representatives of the Philippine General Hospital and the Child Foundation, highlighting a coordinated effort between law enforcement support services and medical humanitarian care.

This initiative reflects the broader direction of the Philippine National Police under its Focused Agendaβ€”a transformation framework designed to make police service more responsive, responsible, and people-centered. Among its key priorities are Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support, which are reflected in programs that extend direct assistance to vulnerable communities and strengthen public trust through meaningful engagement.

PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., underscored the importance of compassion in public service, saying:

β€œService goes beyond protection and it must reach those who need it most. We stand with families who fight every day for their children’s life and well-being.

He further stated: β€œWe continue to support programs that save lives and ease the burden of families in need.

As the Philippine National Police deepens its humanitarian engagement, it continues to assure the public of its vision: β€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

Authorities confiscated approximately PHP 4.4 million worth of alleged smuggled ci******es and arrested three individuals in a successful anti-illegal trade operation conducted in Lanao del Sur in the early hours of June 6, 2026.

Personnel of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) conducted a checkpoint operation in Barangay Matling, Malabang, which led to the interception of three vehicles carrying large quantities of ci******es believed to have been brought into the country without proper authorization.

Initial validation showed that the vehicles were traveling from Barangay Picong en route to Marawi City when they were flagged down for routine inspection. Confiscated during the operation were approximately 700 reams of ci******es, 1,800 reams of menthol ci******es, and 3,000 reams of another variant, with a combined estimated market value of PHP 4,400,000.00.

The three suspects, all presently under police custody, are undergoing documentation and proper legal processing. He also emphasized that such operations are aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which promotes proactive, coordinated, and intelligence-led interventions across all regions. He further noted that these efforts directly support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s broader governance direction of strengthening law enforcement visibility and protecting national economic interests.

The Philippine National Police reiterated its firm stance against all forms of smuggling and illicit trade, stressing that sustained operations will continue nationwide as part of its campaign for safer and more secure communities.

β€œPolice visibility means presence, and presence saves lives.
