Vice Mayor Michael I. Buzon recently visited the Navotas Fish Port Complex and met with Assistant Director Cerespink A. Aguila, Navotas City Mayor John Reynald M. Tiangco, and Vice Mayor Hon. Tito M. Sanchez. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen ties between local government leaders and to gain valuable insights from the successful operations of the Navotas Fish Port Complex, recognized as one of Asia’s largest fish port complexes, with a land area of 47 hectares and an ongoing development of an additional 25-hectare reclaimed area.

During the meeting, discussions focused on fisheries development, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and possible collaborations that could greatly benefit the Municipality of Salug. Officials from Navotas also expressed their willingness and interest to visit Salug in support of the municipality’s proposed fishing port project.

The proposed visit is expected to provide valuable recommendations and technical insights that may contribute to the planning and future development of the proposed fishing port in Salug, further advancing the municipality’s fisheries industry and promoting local economic growth.

The Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Salug was successfully conducted on May 25, 2026, at the Municipality of Salug, where leaders once again gathered with one purpose — to serve the people with integrity, compassion, and dedication.

The session became more than just a legislative gathering; it was a powerful reminder that genuine public service is rooted in unity, resilience, and a shared vision for a better future for every Salugnon. Important resolutions, municipal concerns, and development programs were carefully discussed to ensure that progress continues to reach every community in the municipality.

Among the significant matters approved during the session were the following resolutions:

✔️Affirmation on the Municipal Streets which shall be subjected to road rehabilitation as funded under the 20% Development Fund of the Municipality’s Annual Budget for FY 2026 particularly Ramon Magsaysay Street, Andres Bonifacio Street, Matias Ranillo Street, Lim Street and Asenerio Street.”

✔️Affirmation on the portion of Municipal Streets where drainage systems will be constructed as funded under the 20% Development Fund of the Municipality’s Annual Budget for FY 2026 specifically along the streets of M. Roxas, Martinez, M.L. Quezon, J.P. Laurel, A. Bonifacio, and Sebastiana to cater rain flood from the National Highway.”

A deeply touching and inspiring moment during the session was the participation of Hon. Ariene Andrea V. Lagare, RN, who now continues the mission and legacy of public service left by her beloved late husband, the late Atty. Jose Riel Lagare. Her courage and unwavering commitment in carrying forward his passion for serving the people moved many hearts and served as a symbol of strength, hope, and dedication in the face of loss.

Her presence reminded everyone that leadership is not only about holding a position, but about carrying the dreams, aspirations, and welfare of the people with sincerity and purpose. Through her service, the legacy of Atty. Jose Riel Lagare lives on — inspiring unity, compassion, and steadfast commitment to the Municipality of Salug.

As the session concluded, it reflected the continued determination of the local government to work hand in hand for meaningful development, transparent governance, and a brighter future for all. Together, with faith, resilience, and collective service, Salug continues to rise and move forward stronger than ever.
