The City Government of Sagay joins the nation in the observance of the 22nd Women with Disabilities Day this March 30, 2026, pursuant to Proclamation No. 744, s. 2004.

This year’s celebration carries the theme:
“Landas ng Makabagong Babaylan: Pantay, Inklusibo, at Lahat May Kakayahan,” which underscores the importance of advancing gender equality and promoting an inclusive society where women with disabilities are empowered, recognized, and given equal opportunities to participate in development.

The Local Government Unit of Sagay reaffirms its commitment to uphold the rights, dignity, and welfare of all women, especially those with disabilities, by fostering programs and initiatives that promote inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment.

Let us continue to work together in building a community that is equitable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of every Sagaynon.

🌟Paglaum sa Hapag: Warming Hearts, One Bowl at a Time🌟

Yesterday, we launched “Paglaum sa Hapag” at Barangay Rafaela Barrera, the home barangay of our PWD Association President, Jhonmar Jereos! 💛

🥣 Warm bowls of arroz caldo were served to our PWD members, thanks to the amazing Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) who prepared the food with so much care! 👏💙

💪 This program is funded by proceeds from the Association's National Disability Rights Week 2025 raffle and will be continuous, bringing hope, warmth, and unity to PWDs in every barangay. 🌱✨

Let’s continue to share warmth, strengthen abilities, and build community! 💙

The International Day of Sign Languages, on September 23rd, is a global movement to promote the rights and linguistic identity of the Deaf Community, emphasizing that sign language is not merely a tool but a human right, a vital cultural heritage, and a symbol of inclusivity and diversity. It calls for breaking down communication barriers, increasing accessibility, and fostering a world where deaf people can communicate and participate fully in society without being left behind.

Last April 28, 2025, a "hinun-anon" with the PWD Chapter Presidents was held at Persons with Disability Affairs Office. One of the gaps identified during the community dialogue was the lack of assistance to PWD leaders specially in their food and transportation expenses.

Today, the committee on PWD of the City chaired by Hon. Concepcion Javellana together with its members: Hon. Perfecto Marañon, Hon. Lura Javelosa, Hon. Eddie Lobaton Jr., and Hon. Benson Fernandez called for a consultative meeting for the proposed City Ordinance No. 2025-012 "Granting Monthly Allowance to Chapter Presidents of Persons with Disability Organizations of the Twenty Five (25) Barangays of the City of Sagay Appropriating Funds thereof and for other purposes."

The second reading for the said ordinance will be on July 30, 2025 and the implementation is expected to commence on September 2025.
