In its continuing commitment to promote efficient records management and ensure compliance with government standards on records administration, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Romblon successfully conducted the first three cluster sessions of the Capacity Building on Strengthening Records Management in District Offices and Public Schools in SDO Romblon: Records Inventory and its Distinction from Property Inventory.
The activity gathered Public Schools District Supervisors, District Coordinating Principals, School Heads, Administrative Officers, School Records Officers, Custodians, and Registrars from the districts of Banton, Corcuera, and Concepcion. The cluster-based training was held at Banton National High School for Banton District, Corcuera Central Elementary School for Corcuera District, and in Concepcion District for the third cluster.
Designed to enhance records management practices across schools and district offices, the capacity-building activity provided participants with a comprehensive orientation on records inventory, records retention and disposal, and the proper accomplishment of the National Archives Inventory Forms. It also emphasized the distinction between records inventory and property inventory, a crucial aspect in ensuring compliance with the provisions of Republic Act No. 9470 or the National Archives of the Philippines Act of 2007.
Throughout the two-day sessions, participants engaged in discussions on quality workplace practices, records inventory procedures, document tracking systems, management of learning and official communications, and legal frameworks governing records management. Resource persons from the SDO Romblon Administrative Services and Legal Unit shared their expertise to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in handling, preserving, and disposing of government records.
The activity forms part of SDO Romblonโs ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional accountability, improve records governance, and establish Quality Management System (QMS)-ready workplaces in schools and district offices. By enhancing the competencies of personnel responsible for records management, the division aims to ensure the systematic preservation of vital documents and facilitate more efficient delivery of educational services.
SDO Romblon extends its gratitude to the host schools and district offices, particularly Banton National High School, Corcuera Central Elementary School, and the Concepcion District Office, for their invaluable support and hospitality in making the conduct of the activity successful. Appreciation is likewise given to all participants, facilitators, and members of the Program Management Team for their dedication and active participation in advancing effective records management practices throughout the division.
As the remaining cluster sessions continue in the coming weeks, SDO Romblon is committed to fostering excellence, accountability, and efficiency in records management across all schools and district offices in the province.
