IN PHOTO: Lecture on Stress Management

As part of the Personnel Information and Education (PI&E) program, JO2 Rowena G. Pospos, Unit Nurse, facilitated a lecture on Stress Management for the personnel of this unit. The session emphasized the importance of recognizing, understanding, and managing stress in maintaining a healthy, productive, and positive workplace. Topics discussed included identifying common causes and signs of stress, practicing healthy coping strategies, maintaining a proper work-life balance, managing time and responsibilities effectively, practicing relaxation techniques, and seeking support when needed. The lecture also highlighted the importance of maintaining good physical and mental well-being in order to effectively cope with workplace challenges and perform duties efficiently.

The activity enhanced participants' awareness of the effects of stress and provided practical strategies for managing stress in healthy and constructive ways. It also reinforced the importance of self-care, emotional resilience, and mutual support in promoting a healthier and more supportive workplace environment.

This unit, under the leadership of SJO4 Edna M. Iglesia, Acting Municipal Jail Warden, initiated a Read-A-Book Activity for the children of C-6 Road, San Mateo, Rizal.
The outreach activity aimed to promote literacy, encourage a love for reading, and provide a meaningful and educational experience for young learners in the community. A total of thirty (30) children attended and actively participated in the storytelling sessions, interactive reading activities, and short discussions facilitated by JO1 Genesis Cabuay, unit CRS Officer.

Storybook was read aloud to the children, followed by engaging question-and-answer portion to enhance comprehension and critical thinking.
This initiative reflects the unit’s continued commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. Through programs like this, the unit seeks to foster positive relationships with the community while contributing to the educational development and well-being of the children.

During the conduct of the Personnel Information and Education (PI&E), JO1 Jephte C. Tejedor facilitated a discussion on the VRP topic for the week, which focused on Citizenship. The discussion emphasized the importance of responsible citizenship in public service, highlighting the values of patriotism, accountability, discipline, respect for others, and active participation in building a better community. It underscored that every personnel has a vital role in upholding the law, protecting the welfare of others, and contributing to the peace, order, and development of society.

The topic further emphasized that good citizenship is demonstrated through integrity, commitment, teamwork, respect for the rights of others, and a genuine sense of responsibility toward the community and the nation. These values are essential in strengthening public trust and upholding the core values and mission of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Personnel were encouraged to exemplify good citizenship in both their professional and personal lives by performing their duties with dedication, treating others with respect and fairness, being accountable for their actions, and continuously striving to provide quality public service in the interest of the Filipino people.

LOOK: Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony at San Mateo Municipal Hall

The San Mateo Municipal Jail – Female Dormitory , led by SJO4 Edna M. Iglesia, Acting Municipal Jail Warden, together with SMJ-FD personnel, actively participated in the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony held at the San Mateo Municipal Hall.

The ceremony was hosted by the Local Government Unit of San Mateo, Rizal, headed by Hon. Bartolome β€œOmie” N. Rivera Jr., Municipal Mayor, through the Municipal Engineering Office led by Engineer Eduardo Dorado (OIC).

The participation of the San Mateo Municipal Jail – Female Dormitory underscored the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s (BJMP) commitment to promoting patriotism, discipline, and unity among government agencies. It also strengthened coordination and collaboration between the BJMP and the Local Government Unit in support of good governance and effective public service.
This regular civic activity serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility of all government personnel to uphold public trust, national values, and dedicated service to the community.

Under the leadership of SJO4 Edna M. Iglesia, Acting Municipal Jail Warden, this unit joins the nation in celebrating National Peace Consciousness Week, observed from September 1–30, 2026.

The celebration is in line with Proclamation No. 675 and carries this year’s theme: β€œKapayapaan Pagtibayin, Kaunlaran Paigtingin.”

The theme emphasizes that genuine development and sustainable progress can only be achieved through lasting peace, unity, and cooperation.

The San Mateo Municipal Jail Female Dormitory, under the leadership of SJO4 Edna M. Iglesia, Acting Municipal Jail Warden, through JO1 Clarisse Urgelles, conducted an information drive and flyer distribution campaign on the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) within the community.

The activity aimed to increase public awareness of the government’s programs and initiatives under the Whole-of-Nation Approach in addressing insurgency. Informational materials were distributed to residents to promote understanding of NTF-ELCAC’s efforts toward sustaining peace, fostering development, and strengthening unity among the local populace.

This initiative reflects the unit’s continued commitment to community engagement and its support for programs that encourage peace, cooperation, and inclusive development.

Sa isinagawang Personnel Information and Education (PIE), tinalakay ni JO1 Christy D. Babasa, Assistant Mental Health Officer, ang tungkol sa mental health awareness na pinamagatang β€œPag-unawa at Pagkilala sa Sarili.” Layunin ng panayam na mapalawak ang kaalaman at kamalayan ng mga tauhan hinggil sa kahalagahan ng pagkilala at pag-unawa sa kanilang sarili, kabilang ang kanilang mga emosyon, kaisipan, kalakasan, at mga bagay na nangangailangan pa ng pagpapabuti.

Binigyang-diin din sa talakayan ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng kamalayan sa sariling damdamin at emosyon upang mas maayos na mapamahalaan ang mga hamon, stress, at iba’t ibang sitwasyong maaaring maranasan sa trabaho at sa pang-araw-araw na buhay. Hinikayat ang bawat isa na isabuhay ang wastong pangangalaga sa sarili, magkaroon ng positibong pananaw, at huwag mag-atubiling humingi ng tulong o suporta kung kinakailangan.

Ang naturang aktibidad ay nagsilbing mahalagang hakbang upang maisulong at mapalakas ang kapakanan at kalusugang pangkaisipan ng mga tauhan. Sa pamamagitan nito, inaasahang maisasagawa ng bawat personnel ang kanilang mga tungkulin at responsibilidad nang may pinakamataas na antas ng propesyonalismo, integridad, dedikasyon, at buong kakayahan.

Ang San Mateo Municipal Jail – Female Dormitory (SMJ-FD), sa pangunguna ni SJO4 Edna M. Iglesia, Acting Municipal Jail Warden, ay nakibahagi sa Tradisyunal na Seremonya ng Pagtataas ng Watawat na ginanap sa San Mateo Municipal Hall. Ang seremonya ay isinagawa ng Local Government Unit (LGU) ng San Mateo, Rizal, sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Hon. Bartolome β€œOmie” N. Rivera Jr., at pinangunahan ng 27th Sangguniang Bayan at ng Tourism Office of San Mateo, Rizal.

Ang pakikilahok ng SMMJ-FD ay nagpapakita ng patuloy na pagpapahalaga ng BJMP sa pagkamakabayan, pagkakaisa, at pagpapatibay ng pakikipagtulungan sa LGU para sa pagtataguyod ng mabuting pamamahala at mahusay na paglilingkod sa publiko.

PAMBANSANG ARAW NG MGA BAYANI

Sa pagdiriwang natin ngayong Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani, ating ginugunita at pinararangalan ang mga sakripisyo ng ating mga pambansang bayani na buong tapang na nakipaglaban para sa kalayaan at kasarinlan ng ating bansa. Inaalala natin ang kanilang katapangan, paninindigan, at determinasyon sa pakikipaglaban sa kolonisasyon at pagtatanggol sa karapatan at kalayaan ng ating mga kababayan.

Sa kasalukuyan, kinikilala rin natin ang mga makabagong bayani na patuloy na naglilingkod, nangangalaga, at nagsasakripisyo para sa kapakanan at ikabubuti ng ating mga mamamayan. Ang kanilang dedikasyon at walang pag-iimbot na paglilingkod ay nagpapaalala sa atin na ang kabayanihan ay hindi lamang matatagpuan sa mga pahina ng kasaysayanβ€”ito ay naipapakita rin sa ating mga simpleng gawain, malasakit, at paglilingkod sa kapwa.

Ang pagdiriwang na ito ay paalala na ang bawat isa sa atin ay maaaring maging bayani sa sarili nating paraan. Nawa'y patuloy nating alalahanin, parangalan, at isabuhay ang tunay na diwa ng kabayanihan, pagkamakabayan, katapangan, at tapat na paglilingkod.

Kaugnay nito, ang Yunit na ito, sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni SJO4 Edna M. Iglesia, kasama ang mga masisipag at dedikadong kawani nito, ay buong pagmamalaking nakikiisa sa buong sambayanan sa paggunita ng Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani.
