Philippine National Law Week is coming this September!

NEW ISSUANCE: Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 640, s. 1995, the third week of September is observed as Philippine National Law Week, while 19 September is designated as Law Day under Presidential Proclamation No. 1477, s. 1975.

In observance of this significant occasion, all Legal Education Institutions (LEIs) are enjoined to organize meaningful academic, developmental, and socio-civic activities that promote legal education, professional formation, the rule of law, human rights, and public service.

The LEB will likewise conduct a series of online and on-site activities for the legal education community, including:

โ€ข The Third Senator Edgardo J. Angara Lecture Series
โ€ข Mental Health Awareness Webinar for Law Students
โ€ข Reimagining Legal Education Through Human Rights: A National Forum on Advancing Human Rights Education in Philippine Legal Education
โ€ข Training for Law Librarians and Kapihan with the Network of Academic Law Librarians

The LEB encourages all LEI administrators, faculty members, and law students to actively participate in and support the 2026 Philippine National Law Week celebration.

Call for Nominations for inclusion in the LEB Roster of Quality Assurance Evaluators.

NEW ISSUANCE: The Legal Education Board (LEB) has issued Memorandum Circular No. 007, Series of 2026, announcing the Call for Nominations for inclusion in the LEB Roster of Quality Assurance Evaluators.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 7662, otherwise known as the Legal Education Reform Act of 1993, the LEB continues to uphold its mandate to supervise legal education, prescribe standards, and ensure that Legal Education Institutions (LEIs) comply with the Board's policies, standards, and guidelines. In line with this mandate, the Board recognizes the vital role of independent experts in institutional inspections, evaluations, quality assurance activities, and other regulatory and developmental functions.

To further strengthen the objectivity, credibility, and technical rigor of its quality assurance processes, the LEB shall maintain a Roster of Quality Assurance Evaluators composed of qualified experts from the legal academe, legal profession, quality assurance community, higher education sector, and other related fields. The roster will serve as the Board's pool of qualified evaluators who may be designated to participate in inspections, validations, institutional assessments, policy reviews, and other activities requiring specialized expertise.

Through this initiative, the Board seeks to build a competent and independent pool of evaluators, promote best practices in quality assurance for legal education, support evidence-based decision-making in the supervision of LEIs, and encourage greater stakeholder participation in the continuous enhancement of legal education in the country.

A productive exploratory meeting was held between the Legal Education Board (LEB) and the Executive Board of the Network of Academic Law Librarians, Inc. (NALL).

The meeting focused on key initiatives and collaborative opportunities, including the proposed training programs for Academic Law Librarians (ALLs), support for ALLs' membership nationwide, the potential assignment of ALLs during LEB visits and accreditation activities, the โ€œKapihan with LEBโ€ initiative, and topics related to the Philippine Legal resources Electronic Access Platform (PhilLEAP).

Attendees from the Legal Education Board included LEB Chairman Hon. Jason R. Barlis, Atty. Kryss Yvonne M. Vega (Chief of Staff), and Mr. Gabriel T. Matola (Head of PMPD). The NALL Executive Board was represented by Ms. Willian S.A. Frias (Adviser), Ms. Marilyn Yap (Vice President), Ms. Marilyn Palmares (Secretary), Mr. Ananias A. De Villa, III (Treasurer), Mr. Alvin Halcon (Auditor), Mr. Rene Manlangit, and Ms. Cristal Joy Wanawan (Board Members).
