NCRPO Halts Illegal PLDT Cable Tapping in Quezon City; Six Arrested, Over ₱239K Worth of Copper Infrastructure Recovered

Swift police response coupled with active community reporting enabled the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to disrupt an illicit cable-tapping operation along King Alexander Street, Kingpoints Subdivision, Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City. The operation resulted in the arrest of six male suspects and the recovery of critical telecommunications infrastructure.

At approximately 8:50 AM, operatives from Novaliches Police Station 4 (PS4), aided by the Barangay Public Safety Office (BPSO) of Barangay Bagbag, responded to a tip from a concerned citizen regarding unauthorized cutting activity targeting underground lines. Arriving at the scene, authorities caught the suspects in the act of pulling underground cables from a manhole and cutting them, securing the perimeter to execute a peaceful apprehension.

The apprehended group consists of six individuals aged 28 to 39 years old, comprising construction workers, a driver, and a painter. One of the suspects carries prior records for drug and illegal gambling violations under Republic Act 9165 and Presidential Decree 1602. Law enforcement successfully recovered approximately 27 meters of PLDT underground copper internet cable featuring a closure unit, with a total estimated value of ₱239,626.65. Authorities also seized a white Fuso closed van, an iron chain, two metal hacksaws, and three cellular phones at the scene.

The recovered assets have been officially verified as the property of PLDT following institutional coordination. The suspects are currently facing formal charges for violating Section 4(d) of Republic Act 10515, otherwise known as the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013, with documents being finalized for immediate inquest proceedings at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

This successful interdiction aligns directly with the PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr.’s Five-Focused Agenda, emphasizing Enhanced Managing Police Operations and proactive enforcement to safeguard vital public utilities.

"Communication infrastructure supports the daily activities of communities, businesses, and public services. Any attempt to illegally access, damage, or disrupt these facilities is a violation of the law and will be acted upon accordingly," stated PBGEN Christopher N Abrahano, Officer-in-Charge of the NCRPO. "NCRPO will continue to strengthen its operations against those who compromise critical services and ensure that violators face the consequences of their actions."

QCPD Showcases Weeklong Administrative Accomplishments

Quezon City, September 6, 2026 — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), under the leadership of Acting District Director, Police Brigadier General (PBGEN) CHRISTOPHER OLAZO, showcased its administrative accomplishments from August 30 to September 5, 2026, highlighting key efforts in personnel welfare, healthcare services, logistics, recognition of outstanding performance, and community engagement.

The QCPD Medical and Dental Unit, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel (PLTCOL) CLARISSA MODES, provided healthcare services to 2,664 beneficiaries, including QCPD personnel, their dependents, civilians, and Persons Under Police Custody (PUPCs). Services rendered during the week included health monitoring of PUPCs, medical consultations and treatment, chest X-ray examinations, dental services, and Body Mass Index reassessment (reweighing) of personnel from police stations for September 2026.

In recognition of exemplary service, the District Personnel Records and Management Division conferred 5,146 commendations and 260 awards to deserving QCPD personnel in recognition of their dedication, discipline, and outstanding performance in public service.

As part of its community policing efforts, the District Community Affairs and Development Division conducted 266 community engagement activities across various barangays in Quezon City, strengthening trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility in maintaining peace and order.

To ensure operational readiness, the District Logistics Division facilitated the repair and maintenance of 11 service vehicles, enhancing the mobility and response capability of QCPD police stations and operating units.

The QCPD Damayan Program, through the Office of the District Executive Senior Police Office, also extended PhP60,000.00 in burial assistance to three QCPD personnel, helping alleviate the financial burden on their families during times of bereavement. Meanwhile, three QCPD Kids Care beneficiaries received a total of PhP15,000.00 in medical assistance.

“Through our continued efforts in personnel welfare, healthcare, logistics, recognition, and community engagement, we strengthen the foundation that enables our police officers and personnel to perform their duties effectively and deliver responsive, professional, and compassionate service to every QCitizen,” said PBGEN OLAZO. # # #

QCPD Arrests Five Suspects in Akyat-Bahay Robbery; Stolen Bicycles Worth Php200K Recovered

QUEZON CITY, September 6, 2026 — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), under the leadership of Acting District Director, Police Brigadier General (PBGEN) CHRISTOPHER OLAZO, reports the arrest of five suspects allegedly involved in an “akyat-bahay” robbery in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City, and the recovery of three stolen road bicycles valued at Php200,000, following information obtained through social media.

The suspects were identified as alias “Migs,” 29; alias “Nel,” 28; alias “Carl,” 34; alias “Rends,” 47; and alias “Jon,” 28, all residents of Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City.

According to the report of Project 6 Police Station (PS 15), led by Police Lieutenant Colonel BRYAN ANGELO PAJARILLO, the incident was discovered at around 4:00 AM on September 4, 2026, at a residence along Jersey Street, Barangay Bahay Toro. The suspects allegedly forcibly broke open the iron roof of the victim’s storage room and took several items before fleeing the area.

Later, the victim came across a Facebook post uploaded by a certain “Nguyen,” in which three of his stolen road bicycles were allegedly being offered for sale. The victim then sought assistance from PS 15.

Acting swiftly on the information, PS 15 conducted a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of the five suspects at around 3:00 PM along Seminary Road, in front of the Quezon City General Hospital, Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City.

Recovered from the suspects were three allegedly stolen road bicycles: one red Colnago road bike valued at Php80,000; one blue Colnago road bike valued at Php80,000; and one black Taiwan-made road bike valued at Php40,000, with a total estimated value of Php200,000.

Verification further revealed that alias “Migs” and alias “Nel” had previous records for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; alias “Carl” for violation of R.A. No. 9287, otherwise known as the Illegal Numbers Games Act; and alias “Rends” for violation of R.A. No. 9165 and Theft.

Appropriate charges for Robbery will be filed against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

“Timely information and community cooperation can make a difference. We urge our QCitizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and work with the police in keeping our communities safe,” said PBGEN OLAZO. # # #
