National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at Sadanga Central School Successfully Held
Sadanga, Mountain Province – September 26, 2024
Sadanga Central School actively participated in the third quarter’s National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on September 26, 2024. The event was part of the nationwide effort to strengthen disaster preparedness and earthquake readiness in schools and communities.
The drill commenced at exactly 9:00 AM, with all students, teachers, and staff taking part in the "duck, cover, and hold" maneuver as the earthquake alarm sounded. The Sadanga Municipal Police Station (PNP-Sadanga) and Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS), Mr. Jacinto P. Yassan, Valentina D. Morareng, School Head, acted as evaluators for the activity.
In the evaluation session, the evaluators commended the swift response of the school’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team and the orderly conduct of the students. Key feedback from the evaluators focused on further refining communication protocols and enhancing the school's emergency preparedness plan. The evaluators also reminded the learners to apply “Duck, Cover and Hold” anywhere they are and an earthquake occurred.
As a result of the evaluation the following are observed for improvement:
1.) Learner or teacher to carry the first aid kit inside the class room;
2.) The class president can do the head count and report to the principal in case the class adviser is not around;
3.) When earthquake occurred and you are outside the building, do not enter the classroom again.
After the initial drill, evacuation procedures were smoothly executed as students and teachers promptly moved to the designated safe zones. The drill aimed to assess the readiness of the school in responding to earthquake scenarios and to identify areas for improvement in emergency protocols.
The drill was an important reminder of the need for continuous disaster preparedness efforts, ensuring that Sadanga Central School remains resilient in the face of potential natural disasters.
This successful drill emphasizes the commitment of Sadanga Central School to prioritize the safety and well-being of its students and personnel through proactive disaster risk reduction activities.

Local Government of Sadanga Responds to Alarming Dengue and Chikungunya Cases Among Students
________________________________________
Sadanga, Mountain Province – The local government unit (LGU) of Sadanga, led by Mayor Adolf Ganggangan, has taken swift action in response to the alarming increase in dengue and chikungunya cases affecting students in the municipality’s public schools. Over the past three weeks, schools have reported a significant rise in absences, with many learners falling ill due to these mosquito-borne diseases.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Sadanga LGU, under the decisive leadership of Mayor Ganggangan, has procured a substantial supply of essential medicines to be distributed across all affected schools in the municipality. This proactive measure aims to ensure that students receive the necessary medical attention and support to recover from these illnesses, minimizing disruptions to their education.
The medicines, which include fever reducers, pain relievers, and other supportive care products, were carefully selected based on the needs identified by local health officials and school administrators. The distribution of these medicines will be coordinated by the LGU in collaboration with the Department of Education and local health units, ensuring that the relief reaches the students most in need.
Mayor Ganggangan expressed his concern over the situation and emphasized the importance of immediate and effective response efforts. "Our children’s health and well-being are our top priority. The increasing number of students suffering from dengue and chikungunya is alarming, and we are committed to doing everything we can to address this crisis. By providing the necessary medicines, we hope to alleviate the burden on our students and their families and help them get back to school as soon as possible."
The initiative has been met with gratitude by the community, particularly the parents and school staff, who have been deeply concerned about the impact of these diseases on the students' health and education. The collaboration between the LGU, schools, and health units demonstrates a unified effort to safeguard the welfare of the municipality's youth.
