|| Nakarating sa National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) ang kumakalat na balitang papayagan na ang pagbebenta ng Indian Buffalo Meat (IBM) sa wet markets. 𝗜𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗜 𝗧𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗛𝗔𝗡.

Ayon sa DA Administrative Circular No. 12, s. 2015, ang IBM ay para lamang sa mga accredited Meat Importer-Processors (MIPs) at 𝗺𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗽𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗮 𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀.

Ang mga lalabag ay maaaring maharap sa pagkumpiska ng produkto, pagpapataw ng multa, pagsuspinde o pagkansela ng permit o lisensya, at iba pang kaukulang parusa alinsunod sa Implementing Rules and Regulations ng RA 9296, na inamyendahan ng RA 10536, at iba pang kaugnay na regulatory issuances.

Ang lahat ng legal na IBM ay dumaraan sa mahigpit na inspeksyon, laboratory testing, at heat treatment upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng produkto.

Walang pagbabago sa umiiral na patakaran ng NMIS hinggil sa pag-import, paggamit, at pagbebenta ng IBM.

𝗡𝗠𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), through its Engineering Unit, successfully conducted the Competency Strengthening Seminar for Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons from May 19 to 22, 2026, at the NMIS MITDC Bldg., Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.

The four-day seminar aimed to enhance the knowledge, technical competencies, and professional capabilities of Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons, enabling them to effectively contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering and infrastructure services throughout the agency.

As part of the activity, participants engaged in a series of technical discussions and learning sessions focused on engineering standards, infrastructure development, and best practices relevant to NMIS operations. The activity also served as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons from various Regional Technical Operations Centers (RTOCs). To complement the learning sessions, participants conducted field visits to several meat establishments in Luzon area, providing valuable hands-on experience and practical insights into engineering infrastructure standards, facility operations, and regulatory requirements in meat establishments.

Through this initiative, NMIS reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the technical capabilities of its personnel and promoting excellence in engineering and infrastructure services in support of the agency's mandate of ensuring safe and quality meat for Filipino consumers.

Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office V San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur, RED Rodel Tornilla awarded the LTO to the PRDP Funded Tabaco City Abattoir, the 4th PRDP funded project with NMIS issued LTO in the country.

Awarding was done during the Regional Management Committee meeting held yesterday , May 25, 2026 at Sta Catalina Hall , DA RFO V with Dr. Mae Rodriguez , Deputy Director of PRDP RPCO V, RTD Dr. Alex B. Templonuevo , Dr. Bejaee De Dios and Ms. Elaine Salazar of NMIS RTOC V.

𝗡𝗠𝗜𝗦 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗹𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝗜𝗜

On May 25, 2026, the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) officially welcomed the five (5) newly hired Meat Inspectors III during a hybrid oath-taking ceremony administered by Dr. Fernando N. Lontoc, Officer-in-Charge Executive Director.

Ms. Katheryn S. Perez, Chief Administrative Officer, formally introduced the newly appointed Meat Inspectors III, namely: Mr. Benito R. Laplana, Jr., Ms. Jega Margaux F. Perez, Ms. Marrianne C. Hipol-Tumanda, Ms. Camille Bianca P. Salinas, and Mr. Caezar Lucas S. Sombrito.

In his message, Officer-in-Charge, Executive Director Dr. Fernando N. Lontoc highlighted the importance of upholding the agency’s core values of Professionalism, Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability, and God-centeredness (PITAG) in the performance of their duties as public servants. He encouraged the newly hired personnel to remain committed to excellence and dedicated to ensuring food safety and public service.

Meanwhile, Dr. Roberto S. Umali, Deputy Executive Director, expressed his appreciation to the Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (HRMPSB) for their efforts in selecting competent and qualified personnel who will contribute to the agency’s mission of delivering quality service to the Filipino people.

The oath-taking ceremony marks another milestone for the agency as it strengthens its workforce to deliver safe, quality meat inspection nationwide.

May 15, 2026 || The Joint NMIS RTOC V-LGU Camaligan Enforcement Operation was conducted in response to the request of the Local Government Unit of Camaligan to verify the compliance of meat dealers with the existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) entered into with the City Government of Naga. The operation specifically aimed to determine whether livestock intended for public consumption were being properly slaughtered at the Naga City District Abattoir, in accordance with established sanitary and regulatory requirements.

The Municipality of Camaligan is among the eight (8) clustered municipalities being serviced by the Naga City District Abattoir under the said agreement. Through this enforcement activity, the NMIS and the LGU sought to strengthen compliance monitoring, uphold food safety standards, and ensure the meat distributed within the municipality originate from duly inspected and legally slaughtered livestock at the accredited abattoir facility.
