Good news to our motorists!
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced a 3-month extension on expiring licenses and motor vehicle registrations β and you won't be charged a single peso in penalties during this period.
LTO Chief Asst. Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao has issued a memorandum circular ordering all regional offices nationwide to implement the extension, following a Department of Transportation memo dated April 14, 2026, issued in response to the government-declared State of National Energy Emergency.
Starting April 2026, the following documents due for expiration are automatically extended for three (3) months from their respective expiry dates:
πͺͺ Driver's Licenses
π Conductor's Licenses
π Student-Driver's Permits
ποΈ Motor Vehicle Registrations
For the entire duration of the extension period, the LTO will NOT impose any surcharges, penalties, or fines for late renewal of the above-listed documents.
The LTO cited reduced working days and an anticipated surge in transactions as key reasons for the relief measure, giving the public a fair window to comply without rushing, and without paying extra.
All LTO offices have been directed to ensure uniform nationwide implementation and to manage the expected increase in transaction volume to keep public service running smoothly.
