CAMELEON Association Inc. Philippines CAMELEON Association Inc is a non-profit organization working for the protection & healing of young girl survivors of sexual abuse in Western Visayas.

The association also provides educational & livelihood support to disadvantaged youth and their families Founded by a French national in 1997, CAMELEON Association Inc. have 23 years of experience in providing interventions to young girl survivors of sexual abuse, aged 5-17 years old, from various localities in Western Visayas. The association has 3 centers: 2 in Passi City, Iloilo and one in Sila

y City, Negros Occidental. The centers aim to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for the girls that will strengthen and heal them from traumatic experiences. CAMELEON provides a holistic intervention program to address and reduce trauma, enhance coping and resilience, maximize and develop the girls’ unique potentials, and regain their dignity and self-esteem. While the Rehabilitation Program is its core, CAMELEON also runs two other programs: Community Development and Advocacy. Through the Community Development Program, the association provides educational and livelihood support to 300 disadvantaged but deserving youths and their families. They also undergo development trainings to shape them to become actors of change in their respective communities, who help the association in creating child-friendly communities free of child sexual abuse. The Advocacy Program runs information campaigns to raise awareness and educate the public on child sexual abuse and ultimately, to prevent the proliferation of such crime. The program lobbies in the local and national legislative committees to advocate for child protection laws and policies. Two youth organizations, Voice of CAMELEON's Children (VCC) and CAMELEON Youth Health Advocates (CYHA), actively advocate and raise awareness on children's rights and youth reproductive health in the communities through lectures and workshops. Together these 3 programs work together to bring change to the communities and vulnerable children through prevention (Advocacy Program), healing (Rehabilitation Program) and building (Community Development Program).

Today, as we celebrate the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom, we are reminded that true independence means creating a world where every child is safe, protected, and free from harm.

At CAMELEON, we believe that freedom is not only a right to be celebrated but also a responsibility to uphold, especially for children, who deserve to grow up in environments free from abuse, fear, and exploitation.

As we honor this Independence Day, we remain committed to our mission of protecting children, raising awareness, and strengthening communities in the fight against child sexual abuse.

May this day inspire us to recognize that safeguarding the dignity, safety, and future of every child is a shared responsibility. Together, we can build communities where children are free to dream, heal, and thrive.

Strengthening Partnerships and Community Action for Child Protection.

In May 2026, CAMELEON reinforced its collaboration with local government units (LGUs) across Negros Island through courtesy visits and meetings with the Mayors and Municipal City Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDOs) of Victorias City, Cadiz City, and Himamaylan City. These engagements reaffirmed existing partnerships under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and focused on strengthening collective efforts to prevent child sexual abuse, enhance child protection systems, and ensure sustainable collaboration.

Local leaders expressed strong support for the proposed initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing child protection in their respective communities. Building on this positive momentum, four additional courtesy visits have been scheduled for June 2026.

As part of its prevention and awareness initiatives, CAMELEON also conducted a child sexual abuse awareness orientation for 100 youth during a youth camp in Cadiz City on May 16, following the endorsement of the City Mayor.
The session aimed to increase awareness of child sexual abuse and empower participants to become advocates for child protection within their communities.

In addition, CAMELEON participated in a meeting with Negros Island Region-based NGOs at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol. The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, share strategies, and foster collaborative action to better protect children and support vulnerable communities.

Since 2022, Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) has been an integral part of CAMELEON’s healing and recovery interventions for the girls we serve. Through safe and guided interactions with animals, the girls are provided with a gentle and supportive environment where they can feel calm, rebuild trust, and freely express their emotions.

The presence of the animals during daily routines and activities brings comfort, security, and moments of joy, helping the girls feel more at ease and supported throughout their healing journey.

At CAMELEON, we continue to believe in holistic care, nurturing not only recovery, but also resilience, hope, confidence, and the overall well-being of every girl in our care.

At CAMELEON, we believe that meaningful partnerships create lasting impact in the lives of the girls under our care. We are deeply grateful to our local partners and to the interns from University of the Philippines Diliman, Ms. Ivy Rose Justiniani and Ma’am Ronela Jundos, 4th year Doctor of Philosophy in Education major in Anthropology/Sociology Education students, for successfully completing their internship through a meaningful culminating activity with the girls at our Passi Center.

Throughout their internship, they facilitated various life skills sessions in home management skills, personality development, interpersonal communication and effective listening that greatly contributed to the girls’ learning, personal growth, and empowerment. Their dedication, time, and service strengthened our mission of helping young girls heal, grow, and become active voices of change in their communities.

On May 7, 2026, the Decathlon Philippines team from Manila and Iloilo, led by JP Oracion, visited the CAMELEON Passi Center for another meaningful and productive day with the girls. Together, they enjoyed fun rugby activities that encouraged teamwork, confidence, and active participation, while also discussing ways to further strengthen the partnership between Decathlon and CAMELEON.

This collaboration continues to create opportunities for empowerment through sports and holistic development. In 2024, Decathlon also opened employment opportunities for two former CAMELEON partner-beneficiaries, a meaningful step toward inclusion, independence, and long-term empowerment.

CAMELEON is deeply grateful for partners like Decathlon who continue to believe in the potential of every child and youth, helping create safe spaces where healing, growth, and transformation can thrive through sports and circus arts.

With pride and joy, CAMELEON celebrates the success of our 9 former partner-beneficiaries from the Community Development Program who successfully passed the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Teachers.

This milestone is not only a personal achievement for each of them, but also a reflection of their resilience, determination, and commitment to building a better future for themselves and their communities.

Through its programs, CAMELEON continues to support and equip children and youth with access to education, life skills, leadership development, and opportunities that empower them to become active agents of change.

Three days and two nights of connection, renewal, and collective strength marked a meaningful gathering of the Cirquera de CAMELEON girls (CDC) in Isla Gigantes, Carles. The team came together not to perform, but to reconnect with what truly sustains their art and efforts: unity, well-being, and a shared sense of purpose.

Through structured activities, restorative rest, and intentional spaces for reflection, the experience nurtured physical, mental, and emotional well-being; strengthened trust and cooperation; encouraged safe expression; and reaffirmed the values of leadership, discipline, and solidarity that guide CDC.

More than a team-building activity, it became a grounding reminder that when we take care of one another, we grow stronger together.
