LOCAL NEWS | “Buntis Po ang Asawa Ko”: Rider’s Helmet Message Breaks Hearts After Fellow Rider’s Killing

A handwritten message on the back of a motorcycle rider's helmet is drawing widespread attention online, carrying even greater weight in the wake of the recent killing of a rider allegedly at the hands of a customer.

The photo was shared by Primo Baconawa, who said it was sent to him by his girlfriend after she booked a motorcycle ride home from work.

Written on the rider's helmet were the words:

“BUNTIS PO ANG ASAWA KO. HUWAG N’YO PO AKO SANANG SAKTAN.”

The message has struck an emotional chord with many Filipinos, especially as the riding community continues to grieve the death of a fellow rider. What may have once seemed like a simple plea now reflects the fear that some riders carry every time they accept a booking from a stranger.

The words on the helmet also serve as a painful reminder that behind every rider is a loved one waiting for them to return home, a wife, a child, parents, or siblings whose lives depend on them.

The photo has prompted many online to offer prayers for the safety of delivery and ride-hailing workers, asking God to protect those who spend long hours on the road to provide for their families.

As one tragedy continues to weigh heavily on the nation, the rider's handwritten plea has become more than just a message on a helmet, it is a cry to be treated with humanity, to be spared from violence, and to be given the chance to return home safely to the family waiting for him.
