TIEZA Conducts Site Inspection of Tourism Infrastructure Projects in Bohol

On 18 August 2026, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), headed by Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, conducted a site inspection of TIEZA’s tourism infrastructure projects in Bohol, together with Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado.

Among the projects inspected was the Alona Shoreline Rehabilitation and Coastal Slope Protection Project in Tawala, Panglao, Bohol. Part of the project is the installation of floating docks, critical to improving tourism infrastructure, enhancing accessibility, and supporting safer and seamless visitor experience in Panglao.

Through regular site inspections and project monitoring, TIEZA remains committed to ensuring implementation of its projects and delivering quality, resilient, and sustainable tourism infrastructure across the country.

TIEZA Completes Rehabilitation of Burnham Lake; joins 117th Baguio Charter Day

On 1 September 2026, TIEZA officials, led by Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, joined the turn-over and inauguration of the rehabilitated Burnham Lake at Burnham Park, Baguio City, Benguet. COO Lapid was joined by TIEZA Director Roy B. Martin, Baguio Lone District Representative Mauricio G. Domogan, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, Baguio City Vice Mayor Faustino A. Olowan, and Department of Tourism-CAR Director Jovita Ganongan.

The inauguration marked an important milestone in the rehabilitation of Burnham Lake, a TIEZA project that aims to enhance one of Baguio City’s most iconic tourism and recreational destinations. The rehabilitation contributes to improving the park’s facilities, strengthening its appeal as a key visitor attraction, and providing a more enjoyable and accessible experience for both residents and tourists.

Adding to the day’s meaningful celebrations, Baguio City also commemorated its 117th Charter Day at the Baguio Convention Center, honoring the city’s rich history, heritage, and remarkable journey of continued growth and development. The celebration brought together with COO Lapid, Baguio Lone District Representative Mauricio G. Domogan, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, Baguio City Vice Mayor Faustino A. Olowan, local stakeholders, and members of the Baguio community in a shared celebration of the city’s enduring legacy and bright future.

These activities underscore TIEZA’s continued commitment to supporting tourism infrastructure development and strengthening partnerships with local government units and tourism stakeholders. TIEZA Supports the Development of Tourist Rest Area in General Luna, Siargao

On 31 July 2026, TIEZA officials, led by Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, joined government partners and stakeholders in the multi-agency inspection of the Tourist Rest Area in General Luna, Siargao, Surigao del Norte.

The Tourist Rest Area is part of the ongoing tourism infrastructure preparations for the upcoming World Surfing League (WSL) competition in October and is expected to be completed in time for the event.

Through continued collaboration with the Local Government Unit of General Luna and other government and tourism stakeholders, TIEZA remains committed to providing accessible and visitor-friendly facilities that enhance the overall tourist experience and support Siargao’s growth as a world-class surfing and tourism destination.

COO Lapid was joined by General Luna Municipal Mayor Hon. Johnson Y. Sajulga, Vice Mayor Hon. The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), headed by its Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, inspected the ongoing construction of Mangrove Protection and Information Center, and Sugba Lagoon on 31 July 2026.

TIEZA and the Local Government of Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte assessed the progress of the ongoing construction. They also identified other tourism facilities that can further support visitor needs, promote environmental awareness, and enhance the overall tourism experience of guests.

Municipal Administrator Proserfina Matugas Coro led the officials from the Local Government.

On June 25, 2026, the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise Zone Authority, led by Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, conducted a site inspection of Dumaguete Airport as part of the agency's continuing efforts to advance the I-LIPAD (Institutionalized Leveraging Infrastructure Program on Airport Development).

The inspection was carried out together with Airport Manager Allan Punay, Engr. John Kenneth Villalon, and Engr. Obsbourne Vilan to assess the airport's existing facilities and identify priority infrastructure improvements that can enhance passenger experience, operational efficiency, and overall airport services.

Through the I-LIPAD, TIEZA continues to support the government's efforts for safer, more accessible and more convenient gateways that contribute to regional tourism and economic growth.

TIEZA APPROVES ₱3.74 BILLION IN TOURISM INVESTMENTS IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2026

MANILA, Philippines – The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) approved the registration of four (4) tourism investment projects amounting to ₱3.741 billion in the first half of 2026. The newly registered projects are expected to generate 241 employment opportunities, reaffirming TIEZA's commitment to promote sustainable tourism development and job creation.

These projects represent diverse tourism activities and are expected to enhance the country's tourism infrastructure, expand visitor experiences, and stimulate economic activity in key destinations across the Philippines.

These investments reflect the private sector's growing confidence in the Philippine tourism industry and demonstrate the continued implementation of the CREATE MORE Act in advancing tourism investments.

Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority joins the Inauguration and Ribbon-Cutting of the Hyperbaric Chamber Center in Dauin, Negros Oriental

On 25 June 2026, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), led by Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, participated in the inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Hyperbaric Chamber Center in Dauin, Negros Oriental. The event was attended by Negros Oriental Governor Manuel "Chaco" Sagarbarria, Cong. Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, Dauin Acting Mayor Alvin Truita, Negros Oriental Dive Association President Glen John Carballo, Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism Council Executive Director Woodrow C. Maquiling, Jr., Committee on Tourism, Culture and the Arts of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Negros Oriental Chairperson Marianne Angelee Amador-Soliva, Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Specialist Dr. Arnel Bartolome, Philippine Commission on Sports SCUBA Diving (PCSSD) Deputy Director Gloriece Glen "Ice" T. Do, and Rev. Fr. Harnell Paulin.

The newly inaugurated Hyperbaric Chamber Center strengthens the province's capacity to provide timely and specialized medical care for divers while reinforcing Dauin's position as one of the country's premier diving destinations. TIEZA joins the groundbreaking of the new DOT Region III Office Building

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), led by Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, joined the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Department of Tourism (DOT) Region III Office Building in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Key tourism and local government officials present include DOT Region III Director Richard Daenos, City of San Fernando Councilor Reggie David, City Administrator Kristannico Abad, City Engineer Anele David, and City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan.

With TIEZA providing funding support for the project, the new facility represents a shared commitment to strengthening tourism governance, improving public service delivery, and supporting the continued growth of Central Luzon's tourism industry.

More than a building, this project reflects the strong partnership among TIEZA, the DOT, and local government stakeholders in creating the foundations for a more resilient, competitive, and sustainable tourism sector.
