This morning, Oroquieta City Jail, under the leadership of JINSP NEIL N ABUTON, Acting City Jail Warden, participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Dolipos Bajo Elementary School.

Through teamwork and community spirit, personnel contributed to preparing a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for learners as they welcome the new school year.

In line with the celebration of 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗘𝘀𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗮 2026 with the theme, “𝘉𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘗𝘢𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯: 𝘕𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘒𝘢𝘢𝘺𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘒𝘢𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯" personnel of Oroquieta City Jail, under the leadership of JINSP NEIL N ABUTON, Acting City Jail Warden, actively participated in the activity in support of the school’s preparation for the opening of classes.

The activity commenced with an opening program attended by teachers, parents, and other stakeholders, demonstrating unity and shared responsibility in preparing a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for students. During the program, a symbolic turnover of donations was conducted wherein Oroquieta City Jail donated two (2) pails of Boysen Paint (Baguio Green) to support the improvement and maintenance of the school’s facilities, reflecting the jail’s continued commitment to educational support and community development.

Following the turnover ceremony, participants joined a Zumba dance activity that promoted camaraderie, wellness, and active participation among volunteers. Thereafter, volunteer activities officially commenced, with personnel of Oroquieta City Jail participating in the cleaning of school pathways and surrounding areas to help ensure a clean, orderly, and learner-friendly environment in preparation for the upcoming academic year.

The activity highlighted the true spirit of bayanihan, strengthening partnerships among stakeholders and reinforcing the collective commitment to providing students with a better and more conducive place for learning.

𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗨𝗣 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬

In line with the celebration of the Month of the Ocean 2026 with the theme, “𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩, 𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯,” under the leadership of JINSP NEIL N ABUTON, Acting City Jail Warden, personnel from Oroquieta City Jail participated in a coastal cleanup activity along the coastline of Brgy. San Vicente Bajo (Dagatan Bay-bay), Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental. The activity was conducted in collaboration with personnel from Oroquieta CPS, 1st PMFC, Philippine Coast Guard, MOCPPO, CENRO, and Barangay Officials.

The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness, protect marine ecosystems, and support government efforts in maintaining clean and sustainable coastal areas. During the cleanup, personnel collected various wastes such as plastics, bottles, and other non-biodegradable materials along the shoreline. Through this collective effort, participating agencies reaffirmed their shared responsibility in promoting environmental awareness and sustaining a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient coastal community for future generations.

As we celebrate the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha, we extend our warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters, especially to our Muslim Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

May this sacred celebration serve as a reminder of faith, sacrifice, obedience, and hope. Despite the challenges and distance from loved ones, may the spirit of Eid bring peace to your hearts, strengthen your faith, and inspire renewed hope for a better tomorrow.

Our jail facility joins in prayer that this meaningful occasion becomes a source of comfort, unity, and spiritual renewal for everyone.

𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗥𝗔 𝟵𝟮𝟲𝟮 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘

This morning, under the guidance of JINSP NEIL N ABUTON, Acting City Jail Warden, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), represented by Ms. Mia Angela M. Plaza, RSW, SWO I – Women Focal, and Ms. Rose Ann V. Ongcoy, RSW, SWO I – ECCD Focal, conducted an Information Drive on Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 at the WD Room.

The activity aimed to strengthen awareness on the rights and protection of women and children, promote respect for human rights, and prevent violence and abuse within families and communities. A total of fifteen (15) personnel, thirty-five (35) male PDL, and five (5) female PDL attended the activity, facilitated by JO1 Philip D. Cabiara, Unit Human Rights Action Officer, under the direct supervision of JO3 Jinky Flor O. Mendez, Chief, Development Unit.

𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗧 𝗢𝗥𝗢𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗘𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗝𝗔𝗜𝗟

Yesterday, under the guidance of JINSP NEIL N ABUTON, Acting City Jail Warden, Oroquieta City Jail conducted a Climate Change Mitigation Capacity Building Seminar for personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in coordination with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and the Environmental Management Bureau – Provincial Environmental Management Unit (EMB-PEMU). The seminar was facilitated by Ms. Gema U. Alduhisa, Senior Ecosystems Management Specialist, Ms. Clint Jell C. Ruelo, Forester I, and Mr. Charlou C. Quilo, Environmental Monitoring Officer.

The activity discussed important topics on Environmental Awareness, Rehabilitation and Conservation, International Day for Biodiversity, and Climate Change and Solid Waste Management. CENRO also distributed informational pamphlets entitled “Samot-Saring Kwento Para sa Lokal na Aksiyon” to participants. A total of eight personnel and 64 PDL actively participated in the seminar held at the Visitation Area.

The activity aimed to strengthen environmental awareness and encourage responsible practices among personnel and PDL. Through the seminar, participants gained knowledge on the importance of environmental protection, proper waste management, and climate change mitigation. The activity also supported the rehabilitation program of PDL by promoting discipline, responsibility, and active participation in maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable environment within the facility.

𝗦𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘: 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗗𝗟

Under the leadership of JINSP NEIL N ABUTON, Acting City Jail Warden, the Health Service Section of Oroquieta City Jail, in coordination with the City Health Office, successfully facilitated the conduct of a Dental Mission inside the jail facility. City Rural Health Dentist Dr. Morell Matildo and DOH Rural Dentist Dr. Emma Maghanoy, together with three (3) other health personnel, arrived at the facility to provide essential dental services, with proper coordination and security protocols observed prior to the commencement of the activity.

The mission focused on dental consultation and tooth extraction services for qualified Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) suffering from dental caries, tooth decay, and other oral health concerns, benefiting a total of twenty-seven (27) PDL. After the procedures, post-extraction medications were provided, along with health teachings on proper oral hygiene, wound care, and preventive measures to ensure proper healing and avoid infection. The activity reflects strong inter-agency collaboration and commitment to promoting the health and well-being of Persons Deprived of Liberty.
