โWhen I was in elementary, I joined the Supreme Pupil Government for four straight years and by Grade 6, I became the president. It wasnโt anything huge, but it gave me my first taste of what itโs like to lead, serve, and make a small difference. Even then, I knew I wanted to be someone who helps and uplifts others.
I was also a proud kid scout and later a boy scout. I learned discipline, teamwork, and how to stay calm even when the tent collapses on you in the middle of the night.
Then high school happened, and I lost that spark. My confidence disappeared. I started doubting myself, thinking, what if I mess up? What if Iโm not good enough? So I stopped trying. I stayed in the background.
College came and I was just vibing, enjoying the peace until one day, someone messaged me, "Sa tingin mo kaya mo mag-SSC next school year?"
And I was like, VP? Too high for someone who hasnโt run for anything in a decade! But that one message lit a fire in me. It reminded me of who I used to be and who I still could be.
That moment, joining ALAB and training with VP Laika, was the turning point. It was the best preparation I could ask for. I found a team that shares the same heartโto serve, speak up, and stand for something bigger than ourselves. I was reminded that leadership isnโt about titles or being the loudest in the room. Itโs about listening, showing up, and choosing to care.
The biggest lesson Iโve learned is that sometimes, we donโt see our own potential until someone else shines a light on itโand that kind of support can change everything. So as Vice President, I want to be that kind of leader. I want to uplift voices that are often quiet, encourage students who doubt themselves (like I once did), and create a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered.
Making a splash doesnโt always mean doing something loud or flashyโit means making waves where it matters. Whether thatโs through student support, better communication, or meaningful initiatives, Iโll use what Iโve learned to lead with both courage and compassion.โ
