Hands-on Rescue Training Strengthens DRRO Students’ Operational Readiness
The Artillery Training School (ATS), under the leadership of COL JF SPERRI G GOTICO ART (MNSA) PA, facilitated a hands-on rescue training activity for the students of the Disaster Response and Rescue Operations (DRRO) Class 01-2026. As part of this effort, the school invited Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Palayan City to deliver lectures and practical exercises on 20 April 2026.
The training was conducted by Fire Officers FO2 ARIEL J SUPAN JR., Chief of the Special Rescue Force; FO2 MARY ANN S CELESTIAL, Clerk and Fire Safety Enforcer; and FO1 MOISES G OMBING JR., Fire Safety Officer. Through a series of lectures, practical exercises, and assessments, the students were equipped with essential knowledge, rescue techniques, and safety procedures necessary for disaster response operations.
Throughout the activity, the students actively demonstrated their learning and participated in the training with enthusiasm, discipline, and commitment. The exercise underscored the importance of continuous training, teamwork, and preparedness in developing competent and dependable future emergency responders from DRRO Class 01-2026.
“Training like this builds not just skills, but the confidence to act when lives are at stake,” one of the fire officers remarked.
The DRRO program likewise emphasized the critical role of teamwork, coordination, and rapid decision-making under pressure—core competencies required in actual disaster situations. By immersing students in realistic and hands-on rescue exercises, the program ensured that learning extended beyond theory and translated into practical capability. This comprehensive approach continues to prepare trainees to become disciplined, capable, and responsive individuals who are ready to serve in times of disaster.
