Three individuals were arrested while allegedly unloading smuggled ci******es during a joint law enforcement operation conducted in Brgy. Cadunan, Mabini, Davao de Oro.
The operation stemmed from information provided by a concerned citizen through a cellular phone call reporting the presence of individuals allegedly involved in the unloading of suspected smuggled ci******es in the area.
Acting on the report, personnel of the Mabini Municipal Police Station, together with units from the 2nd Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company, Regional Special Operations Group, Municipal Law Enforcement Team, and the Bureau of Internal RevenueโTagum, immediately conducted a coordinated law enforcement operation.
Upon arrival at the target area, the operating teams allegedly caught the suspects in the act of unloading cigarette products believed to be smuggled and without the required Graphic Health Warnings.
The arrested suspects were identified as three male individuals aged 27 to 37 years old, all residents of different areas within Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental.
Confiscated during the operation were a motor vehicle used in the transport of the contraband, thirty-six sacks containing suspected D and J brand ci******es, and ten master cases of the same cigarette brand. The total estimated value of the seized items reached approximately โฑ705,000.00.
The arrested individuals, along with the confiscated items, are currently under the custody of the Mabini Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and the filing of appropriate charges in coordination with concerned government agencies.
The Mabini Municipal Police Station reiterated its strong commitment to intensifying anti-smuggling operations and ensuring strict enforcement of laws to protect public welfare and uphold the rule of law.
