TRAVEL ADVISORY: January 16, 2026

As of 5:00 AM today, the weather disturbance east of Mindanao has developed into Tropical Depression . While Northern Mindanao is not currently under any Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS), the region is advised to prepare for possible rains and gusty winds as the system continues to move generally westward.

Although no TCWS has been raised over Northern Mindanao, the region particularly areas facing the eastern seaboard may still experience rainfall and thunderstorms, moderate to rough coastal conditions, and occasional gusty winds due to the broad circulation of Tropical Depression .

The Department of Tourism (DOT) advises all travelers and tourism stakeholders to remain vigilant and alert, as Tropical Depression Ada may bring periods of heavy rain and strong winds over Northern Mindanao based on the latest weather forecast. Residents and travelers are urged to exercise utmost caution, especially in low-lying, flood-prone, and coastal areas.

Tonight, the Villanueva Gymnasium will glow, but no light shines brighter than our very own Annabelle G. Zapico. As she takes the stage for the Miss Kuyamis 2026 Grand Coronation Night, she carries the heart of Magsaysay with her. ๐Ÿ’š

We often look to the Hawksbill Sea Turtle as our symbol, not just because they are beautiful, but because they are resilient travelers who always know their way back to their roots. And just like our Hawksbill, Annabelle represents that same steady strength and the enduring value of our home. ๐ŸŒŠ
