Ink, Ideas, and a Lot of Laughs: Mayoyao’s Campus Journalism Weekend
From last Friday to Sunday, the district of Mayoyao did not just echo with lessons, it buzzed with ideas, laughter, and the sound of pens racing against paper. Advisers, future advisers, and our learners who are aspiring journalists came together for a Campus Journalism Training and Workshop that felt less like a seminar and more like a creative reunion of minds.
It was a weekend where notebooks were filled not only with notes but also with “aha!” moments. Under the guidance of our batidong lecturers, we dove deep into the exciting world of journalism, sports writing that made our hearts race, science and technology articles that made our heads spin (in a good way), columns and features that taught us how to speak from the heart, photojournalism that reminded us that one picture can tell a thousand stories, news writing that sharpened our sense of truth, and layouting that proved that journalism is also an art.
Between lectures, there were fun activities that reminded us that learning does not always have to be serious. There were laughs when someone realized, “Ay, mali pala ang angle ko,” and inside jokes that only journalists would understand, like how deadlines suddenly feel closer when the lecturer says, “You have five minutes left.” 😄
Our lecturers generously shared practical tips, tricks, and real-life experiences, proof that journalism is not just about writing well, but about observing deeply, thinking critically, and telling stories responsibly. Each session molded our knowledge and confidence, turning both teachers and learners into better storytellers.
By the end of the training, we were tired but inspired.
This training reminded us that campus journalism is not only about competing or winning, it is about giving voice, telling stories that matter, and learning together as a community. Mayoyao’s future journalists are on the rise, armed with skills, passion, and a lot of shared memories.
Here’s to more stories to write, more photos to capture, and more deadlines to chase, with a smile.
