Are you a young leader (𝟭𝟴–𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱) from 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮𝘆 or 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗻, affiliated with an organization, and ready to take action for the environment and your community?

If YES, you may be the training participant we are looking for!!!

The Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainability for Empowered Youth (RISE) Project of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) of Albay, Inc. and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), is now opening applications for its upcoming training series.

The RISE training program will enable selected participants to:
• Deepen their understanding of climate issues, environmental laws, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and migration.
• Learn from experts, and gain practical exposure and mentorship
• Implement innovative and sustainable environmental projects

To apply, you must be:
• 18-30 years old from Albay or Sorsogon
• affiliated with an existing organization (e.g., youth group, school club, faith-based group, community association, NGO)
• residing in the province and able to attend-in-person sessions
• willing to commit to the full duration of the training series

Please note: Slots are limited. A maximum of 2 participants per organization is allowed. Applications will undergo a selection process, and shortlisted participants will receive a confirmation email.

The 2025 BIDA Summer Camp: A Celebration of Collective Impact

As the echoes of laughter and learning from the 2025 BIDA Summer Camp fade into cherished memories, let us take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary journey we shared. This camp was a testament to the power of collaboration and our unwavering commitment to empowering the youth.

To our Prime Movers—Mayor Cattleya So, Ma'am D'Anne So, ABC Pres. Celema So, and Mayor Claudith So—your vision and tireless efforts brought this transformative event to life. Your dedication to creating a safe, engaging, and impactful experience for our youth is truly commendable.

To our Facilitators—Romida Gayanes Naag, Karen Bonos Antuerpia, Elizabeth M. Garil, Alma C. Gayola, Adoralin G. So, Jushabeth G. Garcera, Catriona Vibar Sabado, April N. Daniel, Luis C. Gillego, Eric A. Estadula, Christian G. Agustin, Kons. Pobie Yu Sabado, Darrel Jun Buena, Homer A. Gallano, Jay E. To our unsung heroes—the workers, kitchen crew, servers, cleaners, and especially the tourism and Tulong Center staff—your dedication and hard work ensured that every participant was well-nourished, comfortable, and supported throughout the camp. Your contributions were essential to the smooth operation of the event, allowing us to focus on our mission of empowering the youth.

Youth campers gathered in their respective barangays for a photo-op before the BIDA Summer Camp 2025 concluded with the closing program on March 17, 2025.

Legal awareness for the youth was led by our distinguished resource speakers: Atty. Junnar Oro Garcia, MLGOO VI Conchie Galeria, Dr. Jinky Riamon, Annette Garais Gealone, RSW, and RN Ma. Cecilia B. Briones. They discussed the following topics:

• Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan (BIDA) Program
• RA No. 9165 – Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002
• RA No. 11313 – Safe Spaces Act
• RA No. 10354 – Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012
• Sexually Transmitted Infections

The forum concluded successfully, leaving both the speakers and youth campers with valuable insights. This meaningful event took place on March 16, 2025.
