In celebration of the 29th Parochial Fiesta of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Davao Oriental gathered this morning for a Holy Mass at the Capitol Chapel, joined by our Provincial Vice Governor Glenda Rabat-Gayta, employees, and staff of the provincial government.

Anchored on the theme, "Ang Sagradong Kasingkasing ni Kristo: Sumbanan sa Malungtarong Kalinaw," the celebration served as a reminder that lasting peace begins in the heart, through faith, compassion, and genuine service to others.

More than a religious observance, the gathering became a moment of reflection and thanksgiving, bringing together public servants in prayer and unity as they continue their shared mission of serving the people of Davao Oriental.

As the parish celebrates its 29th year, may the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to inspire communities to become instruments of peace, understanding, and hope for one another.

Forty-five sacks. Ninety-four kilograms of waste. Countless hands working together for one common goal.

Government offices within the Government Center once again came together for the monthly Bayanihan sa Kalinisan Clean-Up Drive, an initiative of the Office of the Provincial Governor that continues to promote environmental responsibility, cooperation, and civic pride.

This monthโ€™s activity yielded a total of 94 kilograms of waste, equivalent to 45 sacks of collected materials, including plastics, metal scraps, wrappers, and other discarded waste. Beyond the numbers, the activity reflects the shared commitment of government workers and partner agencies to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for everyone.

Participating offices included the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, DILG Davao Oriental, DepEd City and Provincial Division, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Barangay Dahican, PDRRMO, Provincial and City COMELEC, COA-PSAO, DAR, Land Registration Group, Municipal Trial Court in Citiesโ€“City of Mati, TESDA, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

One sack at a time. One clean space at a time. One community moving forward together.

What started as an academic requirement became a meaningful journey of growth, learning, and service for 26 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration interns from Davao Oriental State University.

After dedicating 480 to 600 hours across various offices of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the interns gathered for their End of Internship Assessment conducted by the Office of the Provincial Vice Governor. It was a moment to look back on the experiences that shaped them beyond the classroom, where lessons were learned through real responsibilities, teamwork, and professional engagement.

As they shared their reflections, many spoke of the skills they gained, the challenges they overcame, and the confidence they developed throughout their internship. More than workplace experience, the journey taught them the value of discipline, accountability, and public service.

The Office of the Provincial Vice Governor proudly congratulates all 26 interns for reaching this milestone. May the knowledge and experiences they have gained serve as stepping stones toward successful careers and meaningful contributions to their communities.

The Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) highlighted strong 2nd quarter results during its meeting held on May 5 at Kanato Hall, Tourism Complex, reinforcing its commitment to peace, security, and community welfare through a strengthened inter-agency approach.

Key updates included the reactivation of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC), alongside reports from the military, police, fire, and other agencies on ongoing security operations, public safety efforts, and community-based programs.

With continued collaboration and a whole-of-government approach, the province remains focused on sustaining peace, improving safety, and supporting development across Davao Oriental.
