GASAN, MARINDUQUE β€” Coast Guard Station Marinduque continues its search and rescue operations for Armando Sapunto, 48 years old, a resident of Brgy. Pangi (Little-Pangi), who was last seen bathing along the shoreline at around 5:00 PM yesterday 29 April 2026.

Based on initial information gathered, the victim was wearing a black jersey when he was last seen at the beach. Coast Guard Station Marinduque, together with other concerned agencies, has organized search and rescue teams to conduct a thorough search operation to locate Mr. Sapunto.

Authorities continue to appeal to the public for cooperation and urge anyone with relevant information to immediately report details that may assist in the safe and immediate location of the missing individual.

πˆππ‚πˆπƒπ„ππ“ π‘π„ππŽπ‘π“: Coast Guard Substation (CGSS) Gasan responded to a medical emergency involving a 24-year-old female resident who experienced chest tightness and difficulty in breathing at Brgy. Dili, Gasan, Marinduque.

At approximately 03:50pm on 23 April 2026, a concerned parent arrived at CGSS Gasan seeking immediate assistance for her daughter. This prompted Coast Guard personnel to coordinate with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) for ambulance support while proceeding to the location to render initial assistance.

At around 03:55 pm of the same date, the responding team facilitated the safe transport of the patient via ambulance to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) Gasan, accompanied by Coast Guard personnel. Upon arrival, the patient was placed under the care and custody of attending medical personnel for further evaluation and treatment.

The Philippine Coast Guard remains committed to providing prompt emergency response and ensuring the safety and well-being of coastal communities.

The activity aims to ensure that all vessels comply with established maritime safety regulations, including seaworthiness, proper documentation, and the availability of life-saving and firefighting equipment. The team also ensures that vessels do not exceed authorized passenger capacity and operate within prescribed limits prior to departure.

π‹πŽπŽπŠ: In preparation for the anticipated surge of passengers during the upcoming Semana Santa and summer vacation, Coast Guard Station Marinduque, in coordination with the Marine Environmental Protection Unit - Enforcement Response Unit Marinduque (MEP-ERU), Maritime Safety Services Unit Marinduque (MSSU), and Coast Guard K9 Team Marinduque (CGK9), conducted a comprehensive Unified Inspection at the Port of Balanacan.

The initiative aims to ensure that all vessels operating within the port are compliant with maritime safety standards and are in optimal condition to transport passengers safely and efficiently during the peak travel season.

The inspection covered critical aspects of vessel operations, including structural integrity, safety equipment readiness, crew competence, and adherence to environmental regulations. The Coast Guard K9 Team also conducted security sweeps to help ensure the safety of passengers and cargo.

CGS Marinduque emphasized the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding the riding public, especially during periods of increased maritime activity. The joint effort highlights the commitment of all participating units to uphold safety, security, and environmental protection in the province’s ports and surrounding waters.

Passengers are likewise reminded to follow safety protocols, report any irregularities, and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth and secure travel.

π‹πŽπŽπŠ: Coast Guard Station Marinduque, in coordination with CGSS Sta. Cruz, conducted a Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) simulating a drowning incident on 23 March 2026 at Poctoy White Beach, Torrijos, Marinduque.

The activity brought together key partner agencies, including the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Torrijos, Torrijos Municipal Police Station (MPS), PNP Maritime Group, Torrijos Municipal Fire Station, Rural Health Unit (RHU), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), and Barangay Poctoy officials.

The exercise strengthened inter-agency coordination and operational readiness in responding to coastal emergencies. Through simulated water search operations, victim rescue and retrieval, and basic life support procedures, participating agencies demonstrated the value of teamwork and swift action in saving lives.
As part of its continuing commitment to maritime safety, CGS Marinduque remains steadfast in pursuing regular training and fostering strong collaboration with its partner agencies
