On April 10, 2026, the 3rd Scout Ranger “EXCELSIOR” Battalion conducted a Change of Command Ceremony at Camp Luis R. Biel II, Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan.

The event marked the farewell of outgoing Commander LTC LAWRENCE R SAN JUAN and the warm welcome of incoming Commander LTC DRANREB E LANSANG

LTC SAN JUAN expressed his deep gratitude for the cooperation and excellence demonstrated during his tenure, reflecting on both the challenges and achievements of the unit. He departs with numerous accolades, notably for his efforts in operations in the Lanao areas.

LTC LANSANG assumes leadership with a commitment to uphold the Battalion’s esteemed legacy and to continue fostering the unit’s readiness and growth. He takes on his new role with enthusiasm and a steadfast dedication to integrity and mission accomplishment.

The ceremony was presided by Regiment Commander BGEN ISAGANI O CRISTE and was attended by distinguished guests and officers from various units.

On 29 March 2026, the 9th Scout Ranger (Angat sa Iba) Company conducted its Change of Command Ceremony at Sitio Magwakit, Brgy. Colonia, Lamitan City, Basilan.

The ceremony marked the formal turnover of command from CPT DENIS B ALUCOD (INF) PA, Outgoing Company Commander, to CPT EFRAIN A OROPEL JR (INF) PA, Incoming Company Commander.

The activity was presided over by LTC LAWRENCE R SAN JUAN INF (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander, 3rd Scout Ranger (Excelsior) Battalion.

The event underscored the unit’s commitment to leadership continuity, operational excellence, and mission accomplishment, while recognizing the service and contributions of the outgoing commander and expressing confidence in the leadership of the incoming commander.

CONDUCT OF COASTAL AND UNDERWATER CLEAN-UP DRIVE (SCUBASURERO) AT FUEGO FUEGO, ISABELA CITY, BASILAN

ISABELA CITY, BASILAN – The 3rd Scout Ranger “Excelsior” Battalion (3SRB), in coordination with the Office of the City Mayor under Hon. Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, City Mayor of Isabela, and in collaboration with the 1101st Infantry “Gagandilan” Brigade, 15th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, 6th Special Forces Battalion, 14th Cavalry Company, and 1604th Community Defense Center, successfully conducted a Coastal and Underwater Clean-Up Drive at Isabela City Park (Fuego Fuego), Isabela City, Basilan.

The activity involved simultaneous coastal and underwater clean-up drive, resulting in the removal of marine debris such as plastics and discarded fishing materials that pose threats to marine ecosystems. The initiative contributed to the preservation and protection of the local coastal environment.

Conducted jointly with participating units and with the support of the local government, the activity also engaged community members and youth volunteers, promoting environmental awareness and shared responsibility in safeguarding natural resources.

This initiative highlights the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion’s commitment not only to maintain peace and security but also to support environmental protection efforts. It further underscores the importance of strong civil-military cooperation and inter-unit collaboration in advancing community-based initiatives.

Ride for Peace: Basilan Loop Unites Security Forces, Local Government, and Communities.

CAMP LUIS R. BIEL II, Isabela City — In a strong demonstration of unity and commitment to lasting peace, the 1101st Infantry Brigade, under the leadership of Brigadier General Frederick M. Sales PA, in partnership with the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence R. San Juan, 153rd Civil-Military Operations Company, Philippine National Police (PNP) Basilan, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Basilan headed by Governor Mujiv S. Hataman, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F), and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) successfully conducted the “Ride for Peace: Basilan Loop."

The activity brought together military personnel, law enforcement agencies, and civilian stakeholders in a collective effort to promote solidarity, mutual trust, and sustained peace across the province. Participants traversed key areas of Basilan, symbolizing freedom of movement, strengthened cooperation, and the shared responsibility of safeguarding peace and order.

The Ride for Peace underscores the continuing collaboration among government forces, local leadership, and partner organizations in advancing peace initiatives and fostering a secure environment conducive to development. It also served as a platform to reinforce partnerships, build community confidence, and highlight the progress achieved through unified efforts.

The 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion reaffirms its steadfast commitment to sustaining peace and security in Basilan by strengthening partnerships with stakeholders, supporting community-centered initiatives, and remaining ever ready to respond to emerging threats in pursuit of lasting stability and development.
