Ang El Niño ay nangyayari kapag umiinit ang malaking bahagi ng Karagatang Pasipiko. Dahil dito, mas mainit ang panahon at mas kaunti ang ulan sa loob ng ilang buwan. May ulan pa rin, pero hindi ito kasing dalas ng karaniwan.

Kung may makitang palatandaan ng heat stroke, tumawag agad sa National Emergency Hotline 911 o dalhin sa pinakamalapit na health facility sa inyong lugar.

Air Quality Update | October 1, 2026 | 11:00 AM

As of 11:00 AM today, two (2) of the five (5) air quality monitoring sensors — Anda Circle, and Rajah Sulayman Park—are reporting FAIR Air Quality Index (AQI) levels. Meanwhile, Puregold Tayuman, San Sebastian Residences and Sta. Ana Hospital are recording UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS (UFSG) AQI levels.

This could be attributed to a possible "Thermal Inversion", wherein a layer of warm air sits on top a layer of cooler air in the ground, which traps the pollutants and prevents them from rising.

In light of these conditions, individuals belonging to sensitive groups—particularly those with respiratory conditions such as asthma, the elderly, children, and pregnant women—are strongly advised to limit prolonged outdoor activities, especially within affected areas.

This advisory forms part of the City Government of Manila, through the initiatives of the Department of Environment and Public Services – Manila, continuing efforts to safeguard public health and promote a safer and more sustainable urban environment.

PALACE: NO NEED TO HOARD, PANIC AMID SUPER EL ÑINO THREAT

Malacañang reminds the public not to panic and hoard water with the looming Super El Niño, emphasizing that the government is ready to mitigate its effects through its Task Force El Niño.

"Ang unang-una po kasi, bakit kailangang mag-hoard ng tubig? Para pang-inom? Hindi po tayo mawawalan ng tubig para mainom," Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a briefing Thursday, Oct. 1.
