Today, the SMAP Family and the Political Science Department celebrate not only another year of life, but also the person behind the lessons, guidance, and encouragement that have touched the lives of many students—our beloved 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼-𝗛𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘀. 🎉

Your presence in the department has always been more than that of an educator. You have been someone students can look up to, learn from, and turn to—a mentor who teaches with patience, guides with understanding, and reminds us that becoming a good Political Science student is not only about knowing what is written in books, but also about learning how to face life with wisdom, compassion, and purpose. 🌷

The 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, themed “𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒚 & 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑵𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 (𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷.𝑶.𝑳.𝑰.𝑻.𝑰.𝑲.𝑨 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒉),” was successfully held on August 25, 2026, at Palma Hall, bringing Political Science students closer to the realities of public service, governance, and the many possibilities that await beyond the classroom.

The program featured two distinguished keynote speakers, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗔𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮𝗿 and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗛. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗽𝗶𝗼, who shared valuable insights and perspectives on navigating the field of Political Science and translating academic knowledge into meaningful action. Through their experiences and discussions, students were given a glimpse into how the theories, concepts, and principles learned inside the classroom can be applied in actual government and public service settings.

More than a learning opportunity, the program served as a reminder that Political Science does not end with books, theories, and examinations. It extends into communities, institutions, policymaking, governance, and the everyday work of serving the public. The conversations encouraged students to look beyond their academic journey and recognize the role they can play as future professionals, leaders, and public servants.

Ngayong Araw ng mga Bayani, ating ginugunita ang mga sakripisyo at walang pag-aalinlangang pagmamahal sa bayan ng mga bayaning Pilipino na nagsakripisyo ng kanilang buhay para sa kalayaan ng ating bansa.

Bahagi sila ng paghubog sa bansang tinatamasa natin ngayon at sila ang nagbigay-daan upang ang mga sumunod at susunod na henerasyon ay mamuhay nang may dignidad at pag-asa.

Sa paggunita natin sa kanilang mga makasaysayang ambag, nawa'y patuloy nating isabuhay ang pagiging responsableng mamamayan, maglingkod at makibahagi para sa patuloy na ikauunlan ng ating bansa.

We've spent countless hours learning political theories, understanding governance, and trying to make sense of how politics shapes society. But how do all these actually work in the real world?

Every late night we spent studying laws, principles, and constitutions, every page we read and note we took, and every effort we gave during discussions and recitations—all of it has prepared us for these major examinations. 🤞🏻

It is completely normal to feel nervous or unsure, but remember the passion and purpose that led you to take this path. Trust the work you have put in. Trust your mind and your heart, for you carry the drive to understand, to question, and to make things better.

Stay focused, take things one step at a time, and be gentle with yourself as you review. Rest when you need to, keep your goals clear, and remember that we have overcome challenges before and grown stronger through every lesson.

The 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 successfully convened students, educators, and future public servants on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at Colegio de San Juan de Letran ‐ Manila for an engaging discussion centered on the theme, "𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚"

The event featured resource speakers 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐚 of De La Salle University and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐨 of the University of the Philippines Diliman, with 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐭. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐚 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 of Colegio de San Juan de Letran serving as the moderator. Through their expertise and insights, participants gained a deeper understanding of the rapidly evolving security environment and the complex challenges facing the Philippines in the modern era.

The panel discussion explored both 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 and 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 that significantly influence the country's national security.
