On February 26, 2026, the ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ (๐๐๐๐๐) convened at the Madison Hotel, Quezon City, bringing together regional line agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), academe, and provincial and city LGUs in a strategic convergence to strengthen population and development (POPDEV) governance in MIMAROPA.
The meeting was presided over by RPDCC Co-Chairperson and ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ป. ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, who underscored the urgency of aligning sectoral interventions with evolving demographic realities and ensuring that all efforts contribute to long-term human capital development.
At the core of the discussions was the Regional Population and Development Strategic Plan 2026โ2028, which sets the strategic direction of the region in addressing key population challengesโranging from declining population growth, internal migration, adolescent pregnancy, ageing population, and persistent malnutrition.
The Plan emphasizes:
โ Strengthening data-driven and evidence-based planning across LGUs
โ Advancing human capital development, particularly in education and health
โ Promoting inclusive and gender-responsive interventions
โ Enhancing multi-sectoral convergence to address complex and interrelated POPDEV issues
โ Institutionalizing local data systems and analytics to support responsive governance
Complementing this, discussions on the 2020 Census-Based Population Projections highlighted critical demographic shifts and their implications on education systems, labor supply, and service deliveryโreinforcing the need for proactive and anticipatory planning.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Regional Nutrition Situation called for more localized, community-driven, and multi-dimensional strategies to address persistent malnutrition, particularly in vulnerable and geographically isolated areas.
A key milestone of the meeting was the formal inclusion of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) as a member of the RPDCC, further strengthening the regionโs capacity to respond to ageing-related concerns.
As MIMAROPA navigates these demographic transitions, the RPDCC reaffirms its commitment to translate plans into action ensuring that every strategy, policy, and investment is grounded on real data and focused on people.
With stronger partnerships and smarter use of data, MIMAROPA continues to move forward anchored on one enduring principle:
Tao ang Puso ng Pag-unlad.
