Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) members and Barangay Tanods from the Municipality of San Miguel underwent a two-day Skills Enhancement Training to strengthen their competencies in maintaining peace and order, responding to emergencies, and supporting community safety initiatives on June 1โ2, 2026 at the Municipal Gym, San Miguel, Leyte.
The activity was spearheaded by the Municipality of San Miguel through the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), both chaired by Municipal Mayor Atty. Norman D. Sabdao. The training was led by the Philippine National Police (PNP) through Officer-in-Charge Chief of Police PLT Tyron Jayson S. Labordo and personnel of the San Miguel Municipal Police Station.
The conduct of the training was undertaken in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) through SFO4 Oscar Ma. S. Guarda, Jr., the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) through Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Melecila C. Labordo, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) through Zoilmar C. Tabalanza, Municipal ADAC and POC Focal Person Nancy B. Ara, and other concerned partner agencies.
The training provided participants with knowledge and practical skills relevant to barangay peacekeeping, public safety, disaster preparedness, community engagement, and support to law enforcement efforts. It also served as a venue to reinforce the important role of BPATs and Barangay Tanods in maintaining safe, orderly, and resilient communities.
The activity strengthened the capacity of barangay frontliners and supported the municipalityโs efforts to enhance peace and order, public safety, and community-based governance.
